Today we’d like to introduce you to Ax Shannon.
Hi Ax, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve been creating for as long as I can remember. Art always came first for me. I gradually started drawing, experimenting, teaching myself and over time that instinct eventually led me into graphic design, where my curiosity turned into real opportunities. I learned by being in the room, by saying yes before I felt ready, and by going through experience rather than comfort.
Working within the industry changed everything for me. By being around bands, artists, and creatives on a regular basis, watching performances night after night and seeing how much intention and vulnerability goes into every show, really reshaped the way I understood creativity. By meeting the artists I once looked up to from afar made something click in my head, that this world wasn’t untouchable and my passion for music wasn’t something unattainable, but it was built, earned, and work towards.
Design became my base foundation not just visually, but mentally. It taught me discipline, storytelling, and how to really translate my emotion into something people can feel and relate. But the deeper I got into the music world, the stronger my urge to create music became, more than just visuals alone. No matter where I was in life, music was always there. It carried me through different phases, different emotions, and different versions of myself, even when I didn’t realize how much it was shaping me.
So this year, I stopped waiting and finally decided to go all in on music. I’ve been working on it for months, shaping it quietly, and it’s finally coming together. Releasing it now feels honest like I’m letting something I desired for a long time finally exist.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I definitely had some challenges. One of the biggest challenges has been trying to do everything on my own learning every skill, figuring out every step, and managing every part of the process all at once. I really pushed myself hard, I often overworked myself and there were times when it felt like there wasn’t enough time for anything else, not even for myself. That type of pressure I was putting on myself pressure was exhausting, and led me to multiple burnout.
But even in the hardest moments of my life, I realized that all of that stress, and negative emotion I could put into something my songwriting, so my music became the way to process my overwhelming emotions into expression. The frustrations, the sleepless nights and the pressure I put on myself
That became fuel for the songs I’m writing now. something people can feel and relate to. It’s about sharing those moments of struggle and making them universal, like letting the listeners know they’re not alone in their own battles.
That process has been healing in itself. What once felt like weight and stress is now a way to connect, to turn my personal challenges into art that resonates. It’s taught me that the struggles, as hard as they are, can actually be some of the most powerful tools for creating something honest and meaningful.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a creative director and graphic designer, but really, I specialize in creating immersive worlds through visuals whether it’s designing merchandise, album artwork, or etc. I aim to capture emotion, energy, and the atmosphere in ways that feels immediate and personal. I’m known for blending bold, cinematic aesthetics with a raw, emotional edge, creating work that stands out while still connecting with people on a personal level.
What I’m most proud of is the journey itself, teaching myself skills as I went, turning passion into professional opportunities, and collaborating with artists and projects I’ve admired for years. I’ve been able to take space in the places grew up watching from the sidelines, like live music, film, alternative culture and contribute to them in a way that feels authentic to me.
What sets me apart is that I don’t just create visually, I create with the mindset of an artist who understands the story behind the work. Every one of design and project is informed by real experience, emotion, and energy. Now, as I step into music, that same approach carries over by combining visuals, sound, and storytelling into one cohesive, expressive experience. I think that holistic perspective is what makes my work, and soon my music, feel alive and relatable.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
If you’re just starting out, my biggest advice to anyone is to trust the process and give yourself time to learn as you go. When I started, I tried to do everything at once like learning every skill, trying to handling every detail and pushing myself so hard that it often led to burnout. I wish I had known back then that it’s okay to start small, focus on one thing at a time, and let growth happen naturally and with time you’ll gradually get better.
Also, surround yourself with like-minded people and experiences that inspire you. Watching artists I admired perform, collaborating with creatives I respected, and being in spaces I wanted to be in taught me lessons no tutorial could.
Finally, let your passion guide you. Hard work is important, but doing something you genuinely care about makes the stress and challenges feel meaningful. The struggles will come, but they’ll shape you, and if you stay consistent and authentic to yourself, you’ll slowly grow in ways you never expected.
