Check Out Ian Duhart’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ian Duhart.

Hi Ian, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve pretty much been an entertainer since before I knew what the word was. I was told that as a child I would memorize and perform commercials, and jingles after seeing them once or twice. The arts have always innately spoken to and have spoken for me when I don’t have the words. Whether it’s writing, singing, acting etc. There’s always a feeling to share, a story to tell, a heart to touch, and I feel like I was put on this earth to do that. I’ve always said I love to leave people smiling ear to ear, or at least leave them feeling something, and that hopefully that feeling is good.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been easy in the slightest. From constant changes in self confidence, to lacking the desired support, to even imposter syndrome; It’s been a non-stop uphill battle. Especially going into anything related to the arts the usual reaction is that you don’t have a “real job” or it’s just a “hobby” You constantly have to prove yourself to family, friends, strangers, and even yourself depending on your village and support systems. It’s not easy but it’s worth it, the press is always worth it.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in sort of well rounded entertainment. I sing, act, dance (a little), model, but predominantly singing, and acting. Something I’m most proud of is I’ve written the songs for my first EP that my plan is to have released sometime this year. It’s a special project to me because it’s the first time I’ve ever written an album, and it was born of heartbreak so there’s a piece of me in every song; while setting a journey I’m sure many have been on. What sets me a part from others is that regardless if I’m covering a song, or portraying a role I always try to bring a piece of me to it while still honoring the material at hand. Authenticity and commitment to the material is key, and I feel like I do that well.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory is when I won an ipod shuffle out of a claw machine on the boardwalk in Wildwood, NJ. Everyone doubted it was possible, and kept telling me the machines are rigged, and that I was just wasting my money. I tuned them out and locked into my mission. There were people crowding around me and the pressure was on. Next thing I know the claw went up, and the crowd went wild as I grabbed my prize. I’ll never forget that
