Community Highlights: Meet Chris of Media Ozone

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris.

Hi Chris, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I founded Media Ozone in September 2014 with a simple goal: help businesses grow through marketing that actually produces measurable results.

Before starting the agency, I spent three years at a boutique public relations firm where I had the opportunity to work with nationally recognized consumer brands such as Duncan Hines, Vlasic, Birds Eye, and many others. It was an incredible experience, especially so early in my career. Beyond learning the fundamentals of public relations and marketing, I gained a firsthand look at how a successful agency operates, how to build lasting client relationships, and what it takes to consistently deliver exceptional work.

Even though I enjoyed my job and worked with an amazing team, I always had an entrepreneurial mindset. I knew I wanted to build something of my own. In September 2014, I took the leap and founded Media Ozone.

Like many entrepreneurs, I started by wearing every hat imaginable. I met with clients, built websites, managed advertising campaigns, created videos, designed graphics, and handled everything else that came with running a new business. Those early years reinforced something I still believe today: successful marketing is not about chasing trends. It is about understanding each client’s business, building genuine relationships, and creating strategies that drive measurable growth.

Over the years, Media Ozone has grown into a full-service digital marketing agency serving businesses and nonprofit organizations across a wide range of industries. Today, we provide paid advertising, social media management, website development, SEO, video production, branding, and content creation. One of the most rewarding parts of the journey has been seeing our work directly impact our clients’ success. Whether we are helping a local business expand, supporting a nonprofit’s mission, or delivering campaigns that generate significant returns on investment, we strive to become a true extension of our clients’ teams rather than just another vendor.

One thing that has never changed is our commitment to relationships. Many of our clients have been with us for years, and that trust means everything to me. Marketing continues to evolve, but honesty, communication, and delivering real results will always be the foundation of how we do business.

Looking back, I never imagined where that decision to leave a great job would lead. What started as a one-person operation has grown into an agency trusted by businesses and nonprofit organizations throughout New Jersey and beyond. Along the way, I was honored to be recognized as one of the Somerset County Business Partnership’s 40 Under 40, an achievement that reflects not only our entrepreneurial journey so far, but also the incredible clients, team, and community that have been part of Media Ozone’s success.

I am grateful for every client who has trusted us along the way; for every team member who took a chance on working with a start-up; and I am excited to see what the future holds.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely has not been a smooth road, but I think those challenges have made us a stronger company.

The biggest test came in 2020 when COVID changed everything almost overnight. At the time, a large portion of our client base consisted of in-person seminars, restaurants, and fitness businesses. As those industries were forced to shut down, we lost roughly 70% of our business between March and April. It was one of the most stressful periods of my career.

The difficult part was that we were not losing clients because our work was ineffective. Their businesses simply could not operate. That perspective kept us motivated. We focused on supporting our clients however we could while continuing to deliver the highest level of service to those who were still able to market.

Fortunately, the relationships we had built over the years became our lifeline. A core group of clients stayed with us despite the uncertainty, giving us enough stability to keep moving forward. As businesses reopened, many of the clients we had lost returned because they trusted us and remembered how we stood by them during such a difficult time.

That experience completely changed the way I think about business. It reinforced that long-term relationships are far more valuable than chasing short-term wins. It also taught me the importance of building a diversified client portfolio across multiple industries so that we are better prepared for whatever challenges come next.

Looking back, I would not choose to relive that period, but I am grateful for the lessons it taught me. It strengthened our company, our team, and the relationships we have with our clients.

We’ve been impressed with Media Ozone, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Media Ozone is a full-service digital marketing agency that helps businesses and nonprofit organizations grow through strategic, measurable marketing. We offer paid advertising, social media management, website design and development, search engine optimization (SEO), video production, branding, photography, and graphic design.

What sets us apart is that we approach marketing like a business investment rather than an expense. We are constantly asking questions like: What is the return? How many leads can we realistically generate? How will this impact revenue? We enjoy digging into the data and helping clients understand exactly where their marketing dollars are going.

We also believe in becoming an extension of our clients’ teams. Rather than acting as an outside vendor, we strive to understand each client’s business, industry, customers, and long-term goals. That collaborative approach has allowed us to build relationships that last for years, with many clients trusting us to grow alongside their organizations.

One aspect of our business that I am especially proud of is the diversity of organizations we have the opportunity to work with. We have helped nonprofits raise awareness and support for important causes, assisted small businesses in reaching new customers, and partnered with established companies looking to scale their marketing efforts. Every client presents a unique challenge, and we enjoy developing customized strategies instead of relying on a one-size-fits-all approach.

Ultimately, our goal is simple: deliver exceptional work, be transparent, and help our clients grow. There is no greater compliment than when a client tells us they view us as part of their team rather than just another marketing agency.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
People are often surprised to learn that entrepreneurship has been part of my life long before Media Ozone.

In college, I started a clothing company and sold apparel to fellow students. Over the years, I have pursued several entrepreneurial ventures, including launching a CBD company and becoming an equity partner in a baseball equipment company. Even today, I am constantly brainstorming new products, services, or ways to improve existing products and processes. Whether those ideas become businesses or simply remain concepts, I genuinely enjoy the challenge of identifying opportunities and solving problems.

I also have a very analytical side that many people do not expect from someone in marketing. While I enjoy the creative aspects of branding and storytelling, I am equally passionate about the numbers behind them. I love analyzing data, forecasting results, and finding ways to improve performance. There is something incredibly rewarding about turning data into decisions that help businesses grow.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, cheering on the Yankees and Giants, and finding opportunities to disconnect and recharge, preferably on the water or in nature. Ironically, some of my best business ideas come when I step away from the computer for a while.

At the end of the day, whether I am building a business, improving a marketing campaign, or brainstorming a new product, I have always been driven by the same question: “How can this be done better?”
