Community Highlights: Meet Jae Hyun Lee of Prime Education Consulting

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jae Hyun Lee.

Hi Jae Hyun, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I joined with my mother-in-law my family one and half year later before my wife and the son came to America in 1997. My wife and I made up our mind to provide my only son with better educational future. I started to run an after-care school for the young kids, a vocational school which provides ESL courses, TOEFL test center, and now consulting company which provides middle and high school students with the guidance and consulting to let them get into the better colleges. It could be possible because I had been teaching English, social studies and math in South Korea for 13 years. I also have been volunteering in southern areas of Cambodia to help improve their education and get clean water through water filtration system for 15 years, starting in 2011.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As you can expected, it was not easy because I didn’t know any American systems and culture. I was not familiar with all those, so searched for the information and learned them. As a trial and error, I made many mistakes and had a financial crisis. There were not any friends and relatives at first here, so I had to cope with many unfamiliar things. However, America has been still the land of an opportunity and many elements empowered me to come here.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Prime Education Consulting?
As a Korean from South Korea, which is famous for the passion for better education, I thought a private school or institute could be a successful career path because so many Asian parents are much interested in the investment for the education of their children. I specialize in the research paper, academic competitions, and extra-curricular activities.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I have been using all kinds of social media such as LinkedIn, Facebook and through the research process. Nowadays AI also can be used.
