Community Highlights: Meet Jessica Grasso of Evolution Therapists

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Grasso.

Hi Jessica, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We’re a family-owned business that started with a shared vision between myself, my husband, and my brother-in-law. Together, we wanted to create a telehealth private practice that could expand access to mental health therapy and truly support individuals in need.

As the Clinical Director and therapist of the group, I lead the clinical side of the practice, while my husband and brother-in-law bring their strengths in business operations and management. We launched at the end of 2021 and, over the past few years, have grown steadily and intentionally.

What began as a small family initiative has evolved into a group private practice with over 20 therapists. Our team brings a wide range of modalities, specialties, and experience, which allows us to serve a diverse group of clients and meet people where they are in their mental health journeys.

We’re proud of how far we’ve come and remain focused on continuing to grow while maintaining the quality of care and personal touch that inspired us to start in the first place.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Like many small businesses, especially in healthcare, we faced a number of challenges along the way. In the beginning, navigating the logistics of starting a telehealth practice—things like credentialing, insurance panels, and building a reliable client base—took more time and patience than we initially expected.

As we grew, one of our biggest focuses was hiring the right therapists. We were very intentional about building a team of clinicians who not only had strong clinical skills, but who also aligned with the kind of care we would want ourselves or for our own family members. That meant taking the time to find people who shared our values which ultimately strengthened the quality of our practice.

We also had to learn and grow on the business side, particularly with marketing and building referral relationships. Establishing a steady stream of referrals and increasing our visibility in the community took effort, strategy, and consistency over time.

Balancing roles within a family-run business came with its own learning curve as well. We had to clearly define responsibilities and develop strong communication to ensure both the clinical and operational sides ran smoothly.

Of course, there were also the natural ups and downs of running a business—managing caseloads, adapting to changes in the healthcare landscape, and supporting both our clients and our team effectively.

Each of these challenges has helped us grow into a stronger, more intentional practice, and we’ve learned a great deal along the way.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We are a family-owned telehealth group private practice focused on providing accessible, high-quality mental health care for adults. We primarily specialize in supporting individuals navigating depression, anxiety, life transitions and trauma. Our goal is to meet clients where they are and provide care that is both effective and genuinely supportive.

One of our biggest priorities is making the process of starting therapy as smooth and welcoming as possible. From the first point of contact, we take a hands-on approach—listening carefully to our clients’ needs, helping match them with the right therapist, and remaining available if any concerns arise along the way. We want every client to feel heard, supported, and confident in their care.

What truly sets us apart is the level of care we extend to both our clients and our therapists. As a small, family-run practice, we’re able to offer a more personal, attentive experience while still maintaining a high standard of professionalism. Our mission has always been to create an environment where no one feels like just a number, but rather someone whose voice and experience truly matter.

We carry that same philosophy into how we support our clinicians. Our therapists have the autonomy to manage their caseloads in a way that works best for them, while also receiving strong clinical guidance and administrative support. We believe that when therapists feel supported and valued, it directly enhances the care they provide.

We offer fully online telehealth sessions for convenience and accessibility, and we accept major insurance plans to help reduce barriers to care.

At the core of everything we do is a commitment to creating a practice that feels personal, responsive, and rooted in genuine care.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
For apps, mindfulness and mental health tools like Headspace can be helpful for clients who are looking to build skills around stress management, grounding, and daily self-care routines. These types of tools make support more accessible outside of sessions and can complement the work done in therapy.

In terms of books, titles like The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel van der Kolk are incredibly impactful, especially in understanding trauma and how it shows up both mentally and physically. We also value books that focus on boundaries, self-awareness, and emotional regulation, as those are core themes we often work on with clients.
