Conversations with John Schaub

Today we’d like to introduce you to John Schaub.

John, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey began when I was 3 and would dress up as my favorite superheroes and act out scenes from Marvel movies. At first it was just for fun and only for my family, but when my parents saw how much I loved performing, they enrolled me in a community theatre program. I spent a couple of years learning on the stage before I realized my true passion was on the screen. I would take any job I could, no pay, low pay, background work, anything, just to get a chance to get into character and on camera. I signed with a wonderful manager at the age of 12 and the rest is history!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has been relatively smooth, but actors unfortunately have to face a lot of rejection. Learning how to not take things personally and look at every opportunity as a new venture has taken some time. I try now not to look back but just focus on giving my personal best and leaving the rest up to fate. I truly believe that what is meant to happen will happen, in time.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My primary job is an actor, specializing in commercials, tv and film. My foucs is more in the area of drama, rather than comedy, but enjoy the opportunity to give varying performances. I think what sets me apart from the average teenager is that I train often and hard , even if that means giving up some of life’s’ other pleasures. They say if you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life!

What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory is when I took a trip to LegoLand in Florida. I still love building legos and seeing creations come to life, so it was extra amazing to see these on a more grand scale.
