Today we’d like to introduce you to Rand Taylor.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
More than a decade ago, I, alongside my son Alec Taylor, established Industrial Sustainability Group (ISG) dba The Fuel Ox® here in New Jersey with a clear mission- to provide consumers nationwide (and now, globally) access to high-quality fuel additives that improve efficiency while cutting down on dangerous emissions harmful to humans, animals, and plants.
We began by forming connections with local construction and trucking companies as well as farmers, municipalities, and independent operators, many of whom would become lifelong supporters of our work due to not only the products themselves, but our dedication to customer service, fast delivery, and attention to detail.
Since The Fuel Ox was founded, we have developed countless innovative additives, including multiple NSF-Certified, USDA-Certified, and, most recently, EPA Title 40 CFR (Code of Federal Regulations) Certified products. These classifications are incredibly rare in the fuel industry, and with each product we release we are showing more and more the power of sustainable solutions.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Sustainability initiatives, while increasingly popular around the globe, have received significant pushback from businesses who have relied upon coal as well as other traditional fuels. The core reason for this? We feel it stems from a lack of understanding about renewable, sustainable products and their capabilities.
Many who favor traditional additives view them as superior simply due to their longevity. However, they forget that these products are not endless. The materials that make them are derived from fossil fuels, resources that are expected to fully disappear in less than 100 years. As a society, we can’t sit around as our resources dry up. We must create alternatives that meet our needs while not depleting resources we have left, and my team has successfully created additives from eco-friendly sources that do not run the risk of disappearing so easily.
That said, helping people understand how sustainable fuel additives work is not always easy, especially in an age rife with misinformation. We encourage those in our sector to keep an open mind about innovations happening everyday, as they are the true path forward across the board.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Officially, I am both CEO and Co-Founder of The Fuel Ox. For more than a decade, I have had the privilege of overseeing daily operations and growth, with my focus being on bringing the highest quality additives to market such as our Fuel Ox with Combustion Catalyst, a fuel additive that promotes a more efficient burn, leading to enhanced performance, efficiency, and emissions for all middle distillate fuels. I was also instrumental in procuring our company’s newest addition, Infinity Lubes, as well as the IP for Infinity Lubes’ Super Spray, Super Grease, and Liquid Friction Eliminator; plant-based lubricants recognized for their high-intensity, eco-friendly applications that outperform toxic and petroleum based competitors.
For the majority of my career, I have held environmental sustainability close to my heart. My goal is to help bring to life a future where no industry needs to rely on disappearing resources, as well as help normalize sustainability in a sector that has historically ignored its power. In recent years, I have attended global events such as COP28 in Dubai, where I presented our Fuel Ox with Combustion Catalyst and explained how it reduces carbon footprint by up to 60% while also improving fuel efficiency and extending the longevity of engine components. I have also worked alongside juggernauts like Ford who now depend upon The Fuel Ox’s products. “Profitable Net Zero” is an excellent description of our attitude.
Previously, I also played an integral role in taking a top New York area financial services company from concept to $1 billion in revenue in less than 6 years, as well as have proven myself as skilled in security, asset management, equity trading systems, large organization management, and business-to-business (B2B).
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
We love being out in the country and away from the rat race of the big city. We have a huge corn field across the road, and we’ve seen deer, foxes, and even bears traipse through and occasionally get into the dumpster. We enjoy being surrounded by nature- it reminds us of why we’ve dedicated our work to mitigating damage to wildlife in all its forms and the beauty it provides.
