Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony McMillon II.
Anthony, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Ever since I was young, I could always envision myself in the film industry. Acting was something that I wanted to do. However, there weren’t a bunch of resources to truly pursue that dream.
So, despite going to college for Business, my creative journey would start in my junior year of college. I was encouraged by one of my professors at the time to take her photography class. At the time, I didn’t really have too much of an interest in being a photographer. But taking that course helped in many ways. I would also start writing scripts. This new hobby would lead me to create ‘Crestwood Productions’. A creative venture that branches across multiple aspects of media.
In 2023, I decided to collaborate with friends to create my first short film, ‘Me Time’, which we released on YouTube. I would follow that up with ‘Quincy’s Love’ in 2024. The goal is to continue to build and grow with my performances and craft to the point where I am able to create/ be a part of major motion pictures in the future.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it’s been a rollercoaster to say the least. The obstacles that I face during this journey have been imposter syndrome, self-doubt, and overthinking.
When these feelings come about, I’m grateful to have family and friends to remind me that I’m capable of accomplishing great things. I would take the time to take a break and let inspiration come to me. During that time, I would listen to music, watch films/shows, and interviews of creators that inspire me.
Even when I have those negative thoughts, I try my best to overcome them with prayer and still achieve those goals I’ve set for myself.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a filmmaker. I act, direct, and write my own films. I am also a published portrait photographer.
Outside of the work I was able to accomplish, I am most proud of the connections, friendships, and bonds I’ve formed over the years. To be able to bring creatives together for one project to tell a compelling story is such a great feeling.
What sets me apart is my multi-faceted ability to create projects in front of and behind the screen.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Being able to create. Rather, it is through photography, filmmaking, or acting that I enjoy bringing/telling stories that will inspire, move, or entertain people. It makes me feel as if I am doing what I believe I was put on Earth to do.
