Daily Inspiration: Meet Katarzyna Albertson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katarzyna Albertson.

Hi Katarzyna, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I didn’t build Haven Hair Company from a place of ease. I built it as a single mother, raising two boys while chasing a vision I refused to let go of.

For me, this industry was never just about doing hair. It was about mastering a craft. I invested years into advanced education, traveling, training, and learning from some of the best in the industry. I became a certified blonding, color specialist, extension artist, and bridal stylist not by chance, but through discipline and dedication. Every class, every late night, every early morning was a step toward becoming the stylist and business owner I knew I could be.

At the same time, I was raising my children. Balancing motherhood and entrepreneurship meant there was no off switch. I built my career in between school drop offs, baseball schedules, and bedtime routines. There were moments where I questioned how I would carry it all, but I kept going because I knew I was building something not just for myself, but for them.

Before opening my own space, I worked within salon suites where I had success, a full clientele, and stability. But I felt extremely limited in a 107sqft room. I wanted more than just working behind the chair. I wanted to create a true “Haven” environment. A place where clients could feel taken care of on a deeper level and where stylists could grow, feel supported, and build real careers.

Taking that leap was one of the hardest decisions I’ve made. It meant stepping into uncertainty, navigating regulations, inspections, finances, and the pressure of building something from the ground up while still showing up every day for my family and my clients.

When I finally opened Haven Hair Company, it wasn’t just a business milestone. It was a reflection of everything I had worked for. I created a space rooted in intention, where every client experience relaxation, care, and elevated service. From the hot towel, to calming shampoo with scalp massage to the focus on effortless, lived in color, every detail represents my vision.

Today, I am not only a stylist. I am a business owner, a mentor, and a woman building something meaningful. I am creating opportunities for other stylists to grow within a supportive environment while maintaining their independence. It’s my passion to help others thrive.

My journey hasn’t been easy, but it has been worth it. Haven Hair Company is more than a salon. It is a space built from resilience, passion, and purpose. And this is only the beginning.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
One of my biggest challenges was learning through difficult experiences with people I trusted. Trusting the wrong people, having the wrong team member can easily hurt a business. As a single mother building a business, those moments were hard, but they pushed me to grow, become stronger in my leadership, and create a space that truly reflects my values and Haven’s standards.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Haven Hair Company is a luxury hair salon based in Hamilton New Jersey, created with the intention of offering more than just hair services. I built Haven to feel like a sanctuary where clients can slow down, feel taken care of, and leave feeling effortlessly confident.

We specialize in blonding, dimensional brunettes, grey coverage, extensions, and signature blowouts. What sets us apart is not just the quality of our work, but the experience. Every service includes a relaxing shampoo with a scalp massage and hot towel treatment, creating a moment of calm in what is usually a busy day.

With over a decade of experience and advanced education from some of the top artists and academies in the industry, I focus on delivering hair that looks natural, elevated, and easy to maintain. My goal has always been to combine technical skill with a personalized approach so every client feels seen and understood.

What I am most proud of is the environment I am building. Haven is not only a space for clients, but also for stylists to grow, feel supported, and build real careers. It is a brand rooted in intention, consistency, and care.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Only luck I had was finding the salon location through networking. Other than that it’s all been long hours and hard work.
