Today we’d like to introduce you to Sara Mora.
Hi Sara, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
At 17 I interviewed the President of Costa Rica and asked him if he knew what DACA was. Fighting for immigration reform began for me as a child, translating for my parents what the government needed for meetings. In 2017 I went viral at a federal level before U.S. Senate as my story was shared amongst other DACA recipients. Then in 2018 I sued the Trump administration and we won. I went viral and soon gained the attention of the entire nation – shortly leading to a worldwide platform known as ‘Miss Sara Mora’ and became the first undocumented and unafraid president of the Women’s March first youth chapter. Women’s March being known as the baby project and consequence of south america movement for the advocacy of women’s rights movement that started known as ‘la culpa no era mia, ni donde estaba ni como vestia’. 2020 I landed short projects with clients like google, adobe and banana republic making me the face of advocacy for immigrant rights amongst the likes of judges like Sonia Sotomayor as I lifted up the power of a phone connection during an outbreak of sensationalism for pictures and video that dispell proof about illegality in the nation according to the white.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Smooth road to me is a right to speak at the cusp of the superface of slavery in America. A struggle has been white people not understanding that nobody is illegal on stolen land. Prioritizing storytelling is such a struggle as an undocumented minimum wage worker struggling to get through college while existing as a dream called Miss Sara Mora for my people.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
