Today we’d like to introduce you to Tara.
Hi Tara, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started this journey in my sister-in-law’s backyard with nothing but an iPhone 10 and a vision. No budget, no team — just a desire to tell real stories that mattered. Fast forward to now, I’ve built a full production with a dedicated videographer through Immortal Vision, operating out of our home base at @theofficeee, and I’ve had the opportunity to sit down with and build alongside Black entrepreneurs who are really in the trenches.
It hasn’t been a straight line. There have been seasons where I’m getting paid and seasons where I’m still doing free work — but I’ve never stopped loving what I do. Every phase taught me something, every conversation sharpened my purpose, and every setback reminded me why I started. This isn’t just content for me — it’s community, growth, and walking in purpose, one story at a time.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
“I wouldn’t call it smooth, but I’m grateful for every part of this journey — the good and the bad. Every challenge has shaped this amazing road I’m on. I feel truly blessed that God trusted me with this experience.”
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Mic’d Up with Monty
Mic’d Up with Monty is a platform where I interview Black entrepreneurs, creators, and community leaders to dive deep into their journeys, mental health, struggles, and successes. It’s more than just a podcast or interview series — it’s about showcasing real stories, providing inspiration, and giving people practical advice for entrepreneurship and life. The focus is on authenticity, vulnerability, and celebrating the wins and lessons along the way.
Creative Happy Hour
Creative Happy Hour is a monthly event that brings together creatives, entrepreneurs, and local talent for networking, collaboration, and fun. It features live DJs, photo activations, vendors, and interactive experiences designed to connect people and spark creativity. It’s all about community, showcasing talent, and creating a space where ideas and opportunities flow naturally.
What makes me different is my ability to combine authentic storytelling with community impact. I don’t just interview people — I dive into their mental health, struggles, and real-life lessons while keeping it engaging and relatable. I’ve built platforms like Mic’d Up with Monty and Creative Happy Hour from the ground up, starting in a backyard with an iPhone and turning it into professional spaces that connect and uplift Black entrepreneurs. I bring passion, creativity, and a relentless drive to every project, and I genuinely care about the people I work with and the communities I serve
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I want to express my gratitude to my tribe — Immortal Vision, my friends, and my family — for their support and inspiration. My motivation comes from Antman, Jr., Grayson, and Annalise; I want them to know that, while I may not have a formal advanced degree, I can go into the field and highlight the lives, careers, and God-given talents of others. My faith in the Lord guides me, and through my journey, I hope to show that pain can be transformed into purpose and used for God’s glory.
To Dawn and Inez — though our time together was brief, your names and your legacy continue to inspire and live on.
