Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmin Mitchell.
Hi Jasmin, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started LeChel Beauty in Virginia Beach, Virginia, in 2018. Initially, it was born out of my obsession with lash extensions. I got my lashes done for the first time ever in 2016, and loved them so much I HAD to learn how to do them! I decided take a course on lash extensions in Maryland and came back to Virginia Beach ready to practice on friends, family, and coworkers.
Eventually, I started taking more and more clients that were referred by people I knew. I don’t even think I thought of it as a legitimate business. I was just a girl doing lashes because I loved the craft. After all, when I finished high school and some college, I didn’t have any real direction, goals, or dreams (a small town will do that to you!). So learning to do lashes and taking real clients was the first time I even started to see something different for myself and my future. And unintentionally, learning how to do lash extensions turned me down a road I didn’t know I needed to travel.
After my fiance got a job offer back in his hometown of Philadelphia, we swiftly had to move. Once we moved to Philly, I had been doing lash extensions for about 10 months and I knew I wanted to take it further. That’s when I decided going to esthetician school was my necessary next step.
I graduated from beauty school in July 2019 and immediately started working at a sugaring salon, performing Brazilians. It was a random left turn in my career but it gave me the confidence to relaunch LeChel Beauty, which I did in 2020. When covid hit, and the salon I was working for had to close for 4 months, with nothing but time on my hands and a little dreaming, I decided that was the time to do it. LeChel Beauty was reborn in August 2020.
Becoming an esthetician opened up doors for me that I would have never entered. I finally started to dream and have goals and a purpose toward something more. But when I look back, this is where I was always meant to be. I’ve been doing my own hair, as well as my friends and family’s hair, nails, and makeup, since the sixth grade. It had been in me all along and I just didn’t see it.
When I restarted my business in 2020, I continued working at my sugaring job for another year. I worked nearly every day: managing my business from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and working my sugaring job from 4 p.m. to near midnight. After one year of grinding, I finally built enough clientele to quit my job.That moment meant so much to me, because as someone who never aspired to do or be anything, I couldn’t believe I achieved that within a year. That was a proud moment for me. Starting a business gave me the direction and the confidence I needed.
Fast forward to today, I’ve been in business in Philly for 6 years and was gratefully awarded Best of Philly 2026 in the Best Brows and Lashes category. That recognition meant so much to me, especially younger me, who would have not seen that for myself at all.
I have appreciated the slower, organic growth my business has experienced because it has given me the time to appreciate why it’s all here. LeChel Beauty exists out of my pure love and enjoyment for the art of beauty. The bonus is that I get to give that feeling to my clients. Meeting new people every day and nurturing relationships with my existing clients brings excitement and fulfillment to my life day after day. If not for my business, I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to connect with and serve over 1,500 beautiful human beings. Every appointment brings a new story, conversation and connection; which brings me a deep sense of purpose and fulfillment.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of the biggest struggles for me has been navigating entrepreneurship. Learning how to do everything on my own from building websites, managing the books, opening a salon, being a content creator for the business, doing my taxes (which thank goodness I no longer do!), everyday tasks, etc, and on top of that performing the services day in and day out. I struggled and still do sometimes with delegating and outsourcing. Overall, it has been an overwhelming journey but it has taught me that I can do more than what I think I can. It reminds me that I am capable and the only person standing in my way.

At LeChel Beauty, our mission is to enhance natural beauty through intentional brow and lash artistry, personalized care, and an elevated client experience. We are committed to precision, education, and creating a welcoming space where every guest leaves feeling confident, balanced, and empowered.
Day to day, the most popular service is Brow Lamination with a specialty in eyebrow mapping. Eyebrow mapping is my zone of genius, which separates my brow services from standard brow services elsewhere. I focus on rebalancing brows with symmetry and fitting everyone’s unique facial shapes and features.
The second most popular service is Korean Lash Lift.
LeChel Beauty is also one of the pioneers in bringing the Korean Lash lift technique to Philly. Recently, I started offering Korean Lash Lift training to other licensed professionals to bring more talent to the city. Philly tends to adopt beauty trends pretty late, so staying abreast of current beauty trends in progressive places like Europe, New York and California is important to me. Every year, I prioritize taking new trainings from the best in the industry, not only elevate my skills, but also pass that knowledge along to my fellow beauty professionals in Philly. In addition, I also teach eyebrow mapping, brow lamination, and tinting in my other brow trainings.
What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is creating a life that genuinely fulfills me, so I can pour into those around me. That includes spending time with my loved ones, building my business beyond me, traveling and creating experiences that inspire me, starting my own family, and being present enough to care for the family I already have. I yearn to create a life that feels full in every way. One where I’m no longer pouring from an empty cup, but have enough to continuously pour into others while still keeping mine full.
