Exploring Life & Business with Lisa Jacovsky of unstoppable voices llc

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Jacovsky.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started my career working in Applied Behavior Analysis, supporting both adults before moving to working with children. Eventually i moved to early intervention, helping families and children under 3 with cognitive delays and autism reach their potential. Along the way, I discovered my lifelong passion for writing and storytelling, which led me to pursue my dream of becoming a children’s book author. Today, I’m proud to be an award-winning author, and I use my professional background and experiences to inform the stories I create, making them meaningful and empowering for young readers. I’m also working on my PsyD in School Psychology, continuing to grow as a practitioner and mentor. Beyond this, I became a professor and founded Unstoppable Voices LLC to amplify stories and perspectives that inspire confidence, resilience, and self-expression. My journey has been about combining my career, passion, and purpose into a path that fulfills my dreams while uplifting others.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My journey hasn’t always been smooth. I started my career in Applied Behavior Analysis, working with both adults and children, and eventually in early intervention. Early intervention work is often fee-for-service, so if a family canceled, I didn’t get paid, which added a lot of uncertainty and stress. Along the way, I faced jealous or controlling supervisors, staff who didn’t fully understand or respect my role, and families who struggled to accept their child’s needs or diagnosis. There were also challenges around being fairly compensated for my experience and expertise.

These obstacles, though difficult, taught me resilience, patience, and the importance of advocacy—not just for myself, but for the children and families I serve. Through these experiences, I gradually found my place in the field of psychology and realized that my passion extended beyond direct service. I wanted to pursue school psychology, work with children in educational settings, and share my knowledge as a professor, mentoring the next generation of practitioners.

At the same time, I never let go of my love for storytelling. I combined my professional background and personal passion to become an award-winning children’s book author, creating stories that empower and inspire young readers. This journey ultimately led me to found Unstoppable Voices LLC, a platform dedicated to amplifying voices, fostering confidence, and sharing perspectives that encourage resilience and self-expression.

Looking back, the challenges—both professional and personal—shaped the path I walk today. They taught me perseverance, advocacy, and the value of creating spaces where both children and adults feel seen, heard, and unstoppable.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Luck hasn’t really been on my side, my journey has been more about intentional choices, learning, and growth than anything falling into place. For me, “luck” has looked like networking, putting myself out there, and saying yes to every opportunity that could move me forward. Whether it was taking on a challenging role, trying a new project, or pursuing a dream in writing, I’ve learned that progress comes from action, persistence, and a willingness to step outside your comfort zone, not from chance. Every opportunity I embraced taught me something new, helped me grow, and eventually led me to where I am today
