Exploring Life & Business with Matthew Rembish of Imperial Design Services

Today we’d like to introduce you to Matthew Rembish.

Hi Matthew, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I began my business in 2018. After working for a few companies and becoming licensed, I decided to go off on my own and start my own engineering business. By that time, I had a lot of experience with civil and structural engineering and I was flipping houses and investing in real estate on the side. I began my journey driving around to local real estate brokerages and dropping off business cards while also joining local business networking groups like BNI and The Connection at Brick. Fast forward to today, and I complete engineering inspections for over 100 real estate agents, attorneys, and contractors who consistently send me new work. I complete over 180 projects a year and I’m currently on pace to complete more this year than ever.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Navigating this world of engineering on my own comes with its own challenges. Engineering is a team sport and when you’re a 1-person operation, the weight of so many tasks can sometimes feel crushing but the satisfaction I receive from completing projects and building client relationships far outweighs the former.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Imperial Design Services is a small structural engineering company specializing in inspections and design for both residential and commercial construction. We complete multiple structural evaluations on behalf of our real estate professionals for transactions every week on top of completing designs for alterations and repairs for other structural projects. When it comes to wood, concrete, and steel, there’s not too much we can’t do. Currently, we have 33 five-star reviews on Google which, up to this point, is the highest rating for an engineering company in my county. We pride ourselves on being reliable, resourceful, personable, professional, and most importantly, returning people’s phone calls whether we can help them or not. This is where we’ve made a name for ourselves and at this point in time, we are actively working on increasing our capacity to take on more complex projects.

How do you define success?
Setting ambitious goals and achieving those goals all while maintaining integrity and a high standard of ethics.
