Today we’d like to introduce you to Noel Rapp.
Noel, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was born and raised in New Jersey, by my grandparents while my mom was in college in North Carolina and my father was in the Marines. I knew at a young age that I wanted to help people, adults would come up to me and share their life stories, I never understood why until I was older. After high school, I moved to South Carolina for undergrad and studied Sociology and Criminology. I fell in love with social work, my internship with Parole and Probation, job with the campus Police Department, and learning overall. I graduated early and pursued my Masters in Social Work, while working full time in the field of substance abuse disorders and co-occurring mental health. I worked in various levels of substance abuse treatment and then transitioned into private practice, later leading to opening my own practice!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
This journey has been such a privilege. With that being said, there have been many ups and downs along the way. I spent a lot of time working, going to school, studying, and taking licensure exams to become what is considered to be the highest level in my field, which is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Substance Use Professional. With working in substance abuse treatment, I have tragically lost many clients to overdose, navigated toxic work environments, and personal challenges with a previous partner battling addiction and mental health challenges. It truly was an environment of yin and yang, I was working in the midst of the fine line of life and death everyday.
We’ve been impressed with Sage & Soul Psychotherapy , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Where soul meets spirit in transformative therapy, Sage & Soul Psychotherapy offers compassionate and empathetic therapy. I help individuals reconnect with their inner wisdom and cultivate a deeper sense of self. My practice emphasizes holistic healing and spiritual well-being, guiding you on a journey of self-discovery and lasting growth. My holistic and spiritual approach is what sets me apart from others. I am trained in and provide EMDR, Reiki Energy Healing, trauma informed care, grief and loss counseling, somatic healing and attachment therapy, and various typed of evaluations for court. I am proud to announce that I recently hired two other incredible clinicians and expanded my practice officially into a group practice. I want readers to know that my practice and staff are the most genuine, intelligent, and dedicated group of clinicians around. We put our clients first no matter what and provide the best care that we can.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
When I was interning for my graduate degree, someone told me that I wouldn’t be credible until I was at least 30. People told me it was a waste to get my masters, and that I would never make money. I would tell individuals in the field working toward licensure or whatever your aspirations are, don’t listen to anyone that tells you that you can’t or that you shouldn’t. Always follow your dream, be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire. I was lucky to have support along the way that kept me pushing through and forward no matter the fact that I am 29 years old who is operating their own successful private practice.
