Today we’d like to introduce you to Shannon Bramham.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was always interested in photography, but never really had the opportunity to start the process because I was so busy with dance. After college I went on to be a professional dancer performing all over the world for 10 years. I underwent a surgery on my hip, that made everything worse so it forced me into a retirement. After that, I was trying to find my passion again in another way and just dove in and finally bought my first camera. I read everything I could, watched a million youtube videos and just went out and photographed everything I could. I have now had my own company for almost 4 years and it’s been so rewarding.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been as smooth as it can be. The hardest part has just been finding my own vision and style. I often doubt myself that I know what I’m doing, but that’s just the voices in my head and I push them aside and keep moving forward.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about SEB Photography?
I specialize in dance photography for sure. I love to do it all, but feel like dance has become my niche. I think what sets me apart from others is that I am a dancer first and also a dance educator so I feel like that helps me direct in my photoshoots. Sometimes what looks best on camera is not technically correct in the dance world, but it creates a more visually pleasing photo, so I’m able to direct my clients to help them look their best.
