Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharee Gregory.
Hi Sharee, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m Sharee from Trenton, a licensed cosmetologist of 27 years, and owner of Salon NVUS, which I’ve operated for nearly two decades. I became a small business owner because beauty has always been my passion, but empowering people has always been my purpose. I wanted to create a salon that reflected excellence, family, and community.
I began my journey with determination in high school , gaining experience in beauty supply stores, nursing homes, and even styling on an Army base. These roles taught me versatility and the importance of meeting people where they are. Over time, I built Salon NVUS into a trusted space that serves clients of all ages and backgrounds.
My community has shaped everything I do. As a high-school cosmetology teacher for five years, I’ve mentored countless young women and men, helping them discover career pathways in the beauty industry. I stay deeply involved through back-to-school drives, fashion shows, group-home outreach, and donation initiatives like providing feminine products for teenage girls.
These experiences also inspired my newer ventures—LuxSharee Prosthetic Hair Solutions, making medical wigs accessible through insurance, and Mercedes & Mats, a luxury wellness event blending self-care and community connection.
Mercedes & Mats is a luxury wellness experience I created with a friend. After years of being a hairstylist, I started to feel the physical toll on my body with the constant standing, tension, and tightness. Incorporating yoga and stretching into my routine truly helped relieve that stress.
.We host wellness activations in beautiful spaces, including Mercedes-Benz dealerships in Cherry Hill, NJ, Atlanta, GA, and Fort Lauderdale, FL. We’ve also brought our experiences to Macy’s and even Barbie Dream Fest.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In early 2025, while upgrading and remodeling my salon, I experienced one of the hardest moments of my career. In February, I suffered a serious fall that left me injured and unable to work for three months. While recovering, my world was shaken again when my favorite cousin—who was also my interior designer and the creative force behind my salon’s aesthetic—passed away in March. Navigating physical pain, grief, and the fear of my business slowing down was an emotional and financial challenge.
What helped me overcome these hardships was my unwavering faith, the support of my family, my loyal clients, and my own determination not to give up. I used that period to reset, rebuild, and return stronger, both personally and professionally.
We’ve been impressed with Salon Nvus Hair , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a licensed cosmetologist, salon owner, and high school cosmetology teacher. My life has revolved around beauty for nearly 30 years. This is what I love and truly know. I specialize in healthy hair care, mentoring the next generation of beauty professionals, and creating elevated wellness experiences. I am the owner of Salon Nvus, a family-based salon known for exceptional service and long-standing client relationships. I also founded Mercedes & Mats, a luxury wellness experience blending yoga, beauty, and networking in high-end spaces, and LuxSharee Prosthetics, providing custom wigs for women experiencing hair loss.
Everything I do is for my family. My salon expansion was to create opportunities for the next generation of beauty professionals so we can grow and succeed under one roof.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
One thing that might surprise people about me is that I was awarded a $10,000 grant from Beyoncé’s foundation through her haircare brand, Cécred. Along with the grant, I received a collection of her products and VIP tickets to her Cowboy Carter concert, where I was right next to the stage.
