Hi Tereill, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started my career in corporate America more than 25 years ago working for one of the top banks in the country. By the age of 19, I became the youngest manager in my region, running a multi-million-dollar branch and leading teams twice my age. From the outside, it looked like success — promotions, accolades, financial stability — but behind the scenes I was already learning what it really meant to carry responsibility, pressure, and expectations as a high-performing woman.
After more than a decade in banking, I transitioned into the insurance industry, where I became a broker and worked closely with business owners, executives, and families on protecting and growing their wealth. Once again, I was in rooms where big decisions were being made — and once again, I noticed something that changed the course of my life: incredibly capable women were still undervaluing themselves, staying stuck in roles that no longer fit, and quietly burning out while carrying everyone else’s dreams.
Everything came to a head when the companies I worked for went through merger after merger. I realized that no matter how talented or loyal you are, when someone else controls your paycheck, they also control your security. That wake-up call pushed me to start writing what would become my book, My Broken Stiletto, a deeply personal story about reclaiming your voice, worth, and identity after years of being defined by external success.
That book led to speaking engagements, including my TEDx talk, and ultimately the launch of Tereill Renee Consulting. Today, I help high-achieving women, executives, and emerging entrepreneurs package their expertise into powerful, profitable offers using my Dream to Driven™ framework — so they can build businesses, personal brands, and careers that reflect who they truly are, not just what they’ve been hired to do.
From VIP Days and corporate trainings to masterminds and international retreats, my work is about more than strategy — it’s about self-concept. When women stop seeing themselves as just employees or helpers and start operating as CEOs of their lives and businesses, everything changes: their income, their confidence, and their impact.
That’s the journey that brought me here — from corporate boardrooms to helping women build legacies on their own terms.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road — and that’s something I’m very open about.
When I started my business in 2018, I was in the middle of a major transition out of corporate. On the outside, it looked like a bold leap. On the inside, it felt like a rollercoaster. I was shifting from a world of structure, steady paychecks, and clear roles into entrepreneurship, where everything depended on my ability to lead myself.
One of the biggest challenges was unlearning the employee mindset. I came in with the expectation that if I created a great product or service, people would automatically show up. But entrepreneurship doesn’t work that way. I quickly learned that I wasn’t just the CEO — I was also the CMO, the strategist, and the engine behind every result. No one was coming to save me, and no one was going to build the business for me.
Even with years of leadership and sales experience, I had to learn how to work on the business, not just in it — how to think bigger, move faster, make decisions without waiting for permission, and create momentum instead of reacting to it. That shift from employee to CEO required me to become more decisive, more confident, and more willing to take risks.
Along the way, I also had to confront deep money mindset and worthiness issues — especially around charging what I was truly worth. When you’ve spent years being paid a salary, it takes courage to step into a world where you set the value for your own brilliance.
That journey — breaking old patterns, trusting myself, and learning to operate at a higher level — is what now allows me to guide other high-achieving women through the same transition. I don’t just teach strategy; I teach the identity shift required to actually sustain success.

I originally started by helping women write and publish their books through my publishing company, TAZ Publishing, and that work is still part of what I do. If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Without a doubt, it’s tenacity — the ability to believe in myself and my vision even when no one else can see it yet.
There have been countless moments where I could have let outside opinions, fear, or doubt talk me out of what I know I was called to do. Building something meaningful requires more than strategy; it requires an unshakable inner conviction. I’ve learned to lean deeply on my faith and on the belief that when a vision is placed in your heart, it comes with the ability to bring it to life.
Trusting that vision — and trusting myself — hasn’t always been easy, especially in moments when results were slow or the path wasn’t clear. But that combination of faith, persistence, and self-belief has allowed me to keep moving forward when it would have been easier to quit.
