Hidden Gems: Meet Leeor Gal of The Therapy Gal

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leeor Gal.

Hi Leeor, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My start to becoming a therapist wasn’t traditional. After completing a 4-year degree in communications with a concentration in PR, I decided it wasn’t for me. After some time, I quit my job, went back to school to finish out a few pre-requisits to apply to Graduate school. Becoming a therapist has been the most rewarding change in my life. I absolutely adore this career and have been so happy to make the switch. In 2021 I opened up my own practice, The Therapy Gal, which eventually grew into a group practice.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being a therapist has its own challenges from compassion fatigue, learning your own therapeutic style, wanting to help everyone (but not being able to) and knowing when you need rest. Owning a business has its challenges as well. I wouldn’t call it a “rough road,” but a road that challenges every part of you.

As you know, we’re big fans of The Therapy Gal. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
The Therapy Gal is a modern group therapy practice designed to make therapy feel more approachable, relatable, and actually helpful in real life. We offer individual, couples, and family therapy, with a strong focus on anxiety, relationship dynamics, life transitions, and the patterns people start to notice as they grow and evolve.

What sets us apart is how human therapy feels here. We’re not about overly clinical, one-size-fits-all approaches. Our therapists are down-to-earth, warm, and deeply attuned, creating a space where clients can be honest, feel understood, and actually see change outside of sessions. We specialize in helping clients connect the dots between past experiences and present behaviors, while also giving them practical tools to move forward.

We’re especially known for our work with anxiety and relationships, and for creating a therapy experience that feels both validating and gently challenging. Many of our clients come to us after feeling stuck or unseen elsewhere, and stay because therapy finally feels like something that clicks.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of how The Therapy Gal has grown into something that feels both professional and deeply personal. We’ve built a brand that resonates (especially online) by blending psychoeducation with humor, relatability, and real-life insight. It’s important to me that therapy feels less intimidating and more like a space people actually want to be in.

At the end of the day, we want people to know that therapy doesn’t have to feel cold or disconnected. It can feel like a place where you’re understood, challenged in the right ways, and supported as you become more aligned with who you are and how you want to show up in your life.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
From a clinical perspective, one of the most important things to remember is that you don’t need to know everything or “fix” everyone. Therapy isn’t about having all the answers- it’s about building a strong therapeutic relationship, staying curious, and creating a space where clients feel safe enough to explore and grow. Your presence, attunement, and consistency will often be more impactful than any specific intervention. Over time, your confidence and clinical voice develop naturally through experience, not perfection.

From a business perspective, I wish I had understood earlier how essential marketing is. You can be incredibly skilled, knowledgeable, and well-trained, but if people can’t find you, you won’t be able to help them. Learning the basics of marketing, visibility, and how to communicate your value is just as important as your clinical training. Building a sustainable practice requires both strong clinical work and intentional business strategy.

Ultimately, success in this field comes from allowing yourself to grow in both areas at the same time-becoming a better clinician while also learning how to show up, be seen, and reach the people who need you.
