My story began in my home country, Venezuela, where creativity and the arts were always present in my life. I was the typical student who filled the back pages of notebooks with drawings and was often chosen to design logos or create visual concepts for school projects. From an early age, art became my natural language of expression.
In 2015, after achieving many of my professional goals in Venezuela, I decided to take a step forward and expand my horizons. That desire brought me to New York City — the capital of the arts and a place where creativity never sleeps. With a suitcase full of dreams, I started again from zero, facing the challenges and realities of building a life and career in a new country. Through failures, growth, and moments of uncertainty, faith played a fundamental role, guiding me in unexpected ways and reconnecting me with my purpose.
I came to the United States to learn English and to elevate my artistic career. While New York is one of the most competitive cities in the world, it is also one of the most open to opportunity. From this journey, several projects were born: Venezuela Art Fair, Guaicora Studios, and Alexillustra New York.
Venezuela Art Fair is an initiative dedicated to supporting Venezuelan artists worldwide by creating platforms and opportunities to showcase their work, connecting them with international collectors, institutions, and investors.
Guaicora Studios serves as the corporate foundation where all creative projects originate, functioning as both a creative and strategic hub.
Alexillustra New York is my newest venture, a brand focused on artistic wearable pieces, transforming art into one-of-a-kind objects that merge fashion, identity, and storytelling.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a challenging journey, and some of the greatest struggles were the immigration process, adapting to a new language, the loneliness that came with starting over, and building a new life far away from home, friends, and family.
As the most difficult stages began to pass, a new chapter emerged, one where I had to confront self-doubt, imposter syndrome, constant distractions, and the ongoing challenge of finding time and balance while rebuilding my path.

Alexillustra New York is an art-driven brand where fashion, storytelling, and fine art intersect. What do you do? What do you specialize in / what are you known for?
I specialize in hand-painted leather pieces and one-of-a-kind artistic accessories that blur the line between fashion and contemporary art. Each creation is individually illustrated and treated as a unique canvas, meaning no two pieces are ever the same. The work is known for its expressive line work, symbolic narratives, and emotional storytelling, often inspired by migration, memory, femininity, and transformation.
What sets you apart from others?
What sets Alexillustra New York apart is that the work is not designed for mass production — it is created as art first, product second. Every piece carries the marks of the artist’s hand, preserving imperfection, movement, and authenticity. Rather than following trends, the brand focuses on narrative and meaning, allowing clients to own something deeply personal and unrepeatable: wearable art with a conceptual foundation.
What are you most proud of, brand-wise?
I am most proud of building a brand that remains faithful to artistic integrity while existing within a commercial space. Alexillustra New York has grown organically through community, storytelling, and genuine connection rather than traditional fashion cycles. The fact that collectors value the pieces as artworks — not just accessories — is the greatest achievement.

Alexillustra New York offers one-of-a-kind art pieces, limited collections, and custom commissions created in close collaboration with clients. Each project is an opportunity to translate personal stories into visual form. Beyond products, the brand represents a creative philosophy: art as an extension of identity, movement, and lived experience. Every piece is meant to be worn, preserved, and remembered.
What makes you happy?
Art, the beach, and my daughter make me happy. When I’m creating without thinking or worrying about time, I merge with the moment and can spend hours completely immersed in my work, where sadness and worries disappear as I create. Watching my daughter grow and seeing her smile fills me with joy. Being on a Caribbean beach, surrounded by warm weather and the sound of the ocean, is also pure happiness for me.
