Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandra.
Hi Alexandra , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started my career as an orthopedic physical therapist, where I spent about four years treating a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions. During that time, I began noticing how many patients had underlying swelling issues that weren’t being fully addressed. That curiosity led me to pursue additional training in lymphatic therapy—and it completely changed my path.
Once I started working with the lymphatic population, I quickly fell in love with it. The impact you can make is so immediate and meaningful, and many of these patients have gone years without proper answers or care. That experience inspired me to create Lymphedema Therapy Center of New Jersey, where the focus is on providing specialized, compassionate treatment for individuals with lymphedema and lipedema.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Like many specialized areas of healthcare, one of the biggest challenges has been awareness—both for patients and within the medical community. Many people go years without a proper diagnosis or are told their symptoms are something else, so a big part of the journey has been education and advocacy.
Building a practice focused on lymphatic disorders also came with the typical challenges of starting a business—growing a patient base, navigating insurance limitations, and helping people understand the value of this kind of specialized care.
On a personal level, it can be emotionally challenging too. You’re often working with patients who have felt dismissed or misunderstood for years. But at the same time, that’s what makes the work so meaningful—being able to provide answers, support, and real improvement in their quality of life makes all of those challenges worth it.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Lymphedema Therapy Center of New Jersey is a specialized practice dedicated to treating individuals with lymphedema, lipedema, and other lymphatic and chronic swelling conditions. What we do goes far beyond traditional physical therapy—we provide comprehensive, individualized care that focuses on reducing swelling, improving function, and helping patients feel more in control of their bodies again.
We specialize in Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT), including manual lymphatic drainage, compression therapy, garment fitting, exercise guidance, and patient education. We’re also known for taking a whole-person approach—recognizing that these conditions don’t just affect the body physically, but also emotionally and mentally. Education and empowerment are a huge part of what we offer, both in the clinic and through social media.
What sets us apart is the level of specialization and the deep commitment to this population. This isn’t just a service we offer—it’s the core of everything we do. We take the time to truly listen to our patients, validate their experiences, and create realistic, sustainable treatment plans that fit into their lives.
Brand-wise, we take a very collaborative approach. We partner with a variety of trusted companies to ensure our patients have access to the right compression garments, tools, and supplies for their specific needs. There’s no one-size-fits-all in lymphatic care, so having these relationships allows us to customize recommendations based on each patient’s condition, lifestyle, and goals.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I love most about West Long Branch is definitely the beach. Being originally from Florida, I’ve always felt connected to the water, so having the shoreline nearby just feels like home. It’s a place to reset, recharge, and get outside—something I really value both personally and professionally.
My husband is a physician in Monmouth County specializing in rheumatology, and we share a practice space, which has been incredibly meaningful both professionally and personally. We have three children who keep us busy, and we love spending our summers together at the Jersey Shore—it’s our favorite way to unwind and enjoy family time.
