Today we’d like to introduce you to Corinne.
Hi Corinne, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Since I was a young 3 year old child, I knew I wanted to be a. part of the dance world. By the time I was 15, I knew I wanted to make an impact on the dance world and open my own studio. Growing up at my home studio, I spent more time being injured and am still working through those injuries years later due to the lack of kinesthetic knowledge and technical guidance. I did not want that for my students. The vision I had for my studio was creating a safe dance-home where my students could properly train, with physical safety and efficiency at the forefront. With this vision in mind, I headed to college. Throughout my journey, I have received an AA in Dance from Middlesex College, a BA in Dance from Hofstra University, and an MS in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology with a concentration in Human Performance from the University of Florida. Receiving these degrees was a super important part of my journey to insure my vision would come to life. Fast forward to Spring of 2022; I received a call asking if was ready and willing to open within 3 weeks and I dove in head first. July 0f 2022, Turn It Out Dance was born. I am still super grateful for that call.
Today, we are a growing and thriving dance studio and I am so beyond grateful for this opportunity.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Some of the struggles along the way were spending so much time away from my family to get the place open, having the fear of the not knowing if my studio would fall or fly, and making sure every piece of the puzzle fit together at the right time to run smoothly.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Turn It Out Dance?
I am the dance studio owner and director. I am also a teacher & choreographer. I specialize in making sure that the dancers training is kinesthetically safe and efficient, while also maintaining the artistry. As a studio, we are known for being a safe dance-home where you can learn, thrive & grow without fear of judgement. Dance studios (especially competitive team) is a big commitment. What separates us from the others is we give our dancers the opportunity to have a life and do other things outside of the dance studio and we make sure that quality, artistry filled, kinesthetic safe training is at the forefront.
I am most proud of the strong bond my students and staff have created in such a short period of time and I am so proud of how kind and hard working my students are.. We’re like family.
We offer multiple class styles as well as programs for those who want to hone their craft and perform more and programs for those who want to dance for the joy of dance.
How do you define success?
Success is never an end goal, it is a state of continuous growth to be better for the next step of your journey.
