Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey in stand-up comedy began over 20 years ago, but my love for making people laugh started long before I ever stepped on a stage.
Growing up in Newark, New Jersey, I was always the funny kid. From elementary school through high school, I was known as the class clown and often voted the most humorous. Making people laugh came naturally to me. Looking back, I realize that humor was more than just a personality trait. It was both a gift and a defense mechanism. Laughter became my way of connecting with people, navigating life’s challenges, and sometimes even protecting myself from them.
My first real experience with stand-up comedy came while I was serving in the United States Air Force, stationed in South Korea. That’s where I decided to take something I’d been doing my entire life and actually step onto a stage. Little did I know that moment would be the beginning of a journey that would shape so much of my life.
Over the past two decades, I’ve experienced just about everything the comedy world has to offer—the good, the bad, and definitely the ugly! I’ve celebrated victories, faced disappointments, learned the business, and, more importantly, allowed the business to teach me some valuable life lessons. Comedy has challenged my patience, tested my confidence, and strengthened my character.
Through it all, one thing has remained constant: my love and commitment to the craft. I’ve learned that this journey isn’t just about getting laughs or being on stage. It’s about growth, perseverance, finding your voice, and staying true to who you are.
Today, I’m still evolving as a comedian, an entertainer, and a businessman. After more than 20 years, I still believe there’s so much more for me to accomplish. I’m proud of how far I’ve come, but I’m even more excited about where this journey is taking me.
My story is still being written, and trust me, the best chapters are yet to come!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Smooth road? Absolutely not! My journey in stand-up comedy has been anything but smooth. It’s been filled with highs, lows, disappointments, betrayals, and some very valuable life lessons.
Over the years, I’ve experienced just about every obstacle you can imagine in this business. I’ve had people steal my ideas and comedy material. I’ve had comedy shows and venues that I worked hard to establish taken right from under me by other comedians. I’ve driven countless miles from city to city and state to state, sometimes spending my own money, based on promises of stage time and payment, only to arrive and hear those famous words: “We got you next time.”
One of the hardest experiences was watching people who were part of my own team switch sides to support another comedian because, in their opinion, that person was better than me. Those situations hit differently because the disappointment wasn’t just professional—it was personal.

I’m the founder and owner of Sweetz Entertainment LLC, home of Sweetz Comedy Club, where our motto is “Premium Laughs for Grown Folks.”
Sweetz Comedy Club is a mobile comedy club that brings quality stand-up comedy and entertainment directly to different venues and communities. We specialize in producing live comedy shows, themed events, and unique experiences that combine laughter, music, food, and a grown-and-sexy atmosphere.
What sets us apart is that we’re not just producing comedy shows; we’re creating experiences. Our goal is to provide an environment where people can escape everyday stress, enjoy great entertainment, and make lasting memories.
With over 20 years of experience in stand-up comedy, I’m also passionate about creating opportunities for both upcoming and established comedians to showcase their talents.
What I’m most proud of is building a brand from the ground up through passion, perseverance, and determination. My vision is to continue growing Sweetz Entertainment into a nationally recognized entertainment brand while staying true to our mission of bringing people together through laughter.
Sweetz Comedy Club is more than just comedy. It’s a culture, a vibe, and an experience!
Any big plans?
I’m definitely excited about what the future holds! We have some big plans in the works, both for my personal comedy career and for Sweetz Entertainment.
Right now, I’m in the process of writing and developing my own stand-up comedy special, which has been a longtime goal of mine. I’m also working toward putting together a nationwide comedy tour, with the ultimate dream of taking my comedy internationally on a world tour.
On the business side, my vision is to continue expanding Sweetz Entertainment and Sweetz Comedy Club, bringing our brand of “Premium Laughs for Grown Folks” to new cities, bigger audiences, and exciting venues across the country.
After more than 20 years in this industry, I feel like I’m entering a new chapter of my journey. I’m focused on growth, creating opportunities, and taking everything I’ve built to the next level.
I’ve come a long way, but I truly believe my best work and biggest accomplishments are still ahead of me. The journey is real, and it’s far from over!
