Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacquie Bird.
Hi Jacquie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve done many things in my life–I was a performing artist on Broadway, stage, TV and film. I was a guest teacher/choreographer where I got to travel to many countries and around the U.S. Then I began another transition into handmade items and that led me to where I am now, an author, sound practitioner who conducts guided meditation, choreographer, maker of handmade things–in essence, a gal who wears many hats and has her hand in many areas! Oh and how could I forget, as a choreographer, I work with 450-600 young singers ages 8-18 at a time!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Oh heck no the road hasn’t been smooth! Many many struggles along the way! When I was perfoming there was much drama in my life both on stage and off. And each life transition came with its own set of challenges–finances, gaining connections, getting my name out there and not succumbing to depression. A very low period in life actually led me/guided me to the work I am doing now which is deeply focused on stress and anxiety relief, mindfulness, awareness as well as personal growth. To me at this stage in life, quality of life and peace of mind are foremost for me. After a life of one challenge after another beginning in childhood, inner peace, good health and joy are in my top 6 on the list of what I need and want for and in my life.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As mentioned earlier, I am focused on mindset–how do we get the most out of our lives? In what ways do our thoughts, beliefs, expectations and habits either help or hinder us? I ask these questions and help guide people to their own answers. Guided meditation, sound, breathwork, movement and journaling are some of my tools.
What am I known for? My friends would say my never-ending energy and determination, my joy, my playfulness and fun-ness. Oh, and my tenacity, I do not understand the word ‘no.’ I will find a way, if I have to go under, over, to the side or through, doesn’t matter.. I will get what I want eventually.
My clients would say, my kindness, warmth, positivity, wisdom and insight, my patience and creativity.
I am most proud of being in a place of equanimity, where I feel good in my own skin and am my authentic self. It was a long, hard road to get here and it feels good.
Well, as far as what sets me apart, we all unique–full stop. If I must give an answer, I am probably in a handful of people who can say they are acutally happy. I’m told we’re quite rare lol!
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Um. I don’t know if I subscribe to luck believe it or not. I feel that if it’s for you, you’ll receive it, if not, you will be steered/guided/pushed/tripped/kicked into the direction where you will intersect with the things, people, places and timing that makes the magic.
When things in show business became too much where I was utterly unhappy and depressed, I followed my intuition to the road that ultimately (through what may seem like many detours) led to the space I am in now.
