Today we’d like to introduce you to Jocelyn Waga.
Hi Jocelyn, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
A couple of years ago, I unexpectedly lost my brother. I was a little lost myself after that, and I knew I needed to take better care of me. So I started working out, and it changed more than my body. Reformer Pilates and strength classes became my anchor, and I found friendships that carried me through.
Then one day, on a whim, I googled “Pilates studio for sale in NJ.” One came up. I went to look with no intention of buying and very little business experience. But I took classes like an undercover boss, and I fell in love with the community.
I was straight with the founders: if they chose me, I would take care of inMotion like an extension of myself. They did, and in February 2026, the studio became mine.
I still work a full-time job and I’m a mom of four, so I lean on our wonderful team every day. And the community that drew me in is still what drives me. At inMotion, we care for the whole woman — body, mind, and community. We’re small, and that’s our strength. We know your name, we notice when you’re missing, and we make room for more than workouts, from give-back nights to gatherings that feed the soul.
I came here healing. Now I want inMotion to be that place for every person who walks through our door.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all, and I’d be lying if I said otherwise.
I came in with very little business experience, and I’m still working a full-time job. Learning to run a studio with about 20 part-time instructors and staff, on top of everything else, has meant a lot of late nights and learning as I go.
There have been plenty of practical hurdles too. We’re changing our booking system and building a schedule that works for our members while instructors come and go. New studios keep opening nearby, and I’ve had to get clear on who we are instead of trying to compete with everyone.
And honestly? I second-guess myself a lot. I’m learning that’s part of caring deeply about something. When I do, I come back to our members and my team, and to the promise I made to take care of this place like an extension of myself. That always points me in the right direction.
The hard days are real, but so are the moments when a member tells me this studio has become her second home. Those make it worth it.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
inMotion is a boutique fitness and wellness studio in Princeton. We offer Reformer and mat Pilates, barre, yoga, strength classes and Personal training taught by a talented team of instructors who truly know our members. We also bring wellness beyond our walls, with yoga at the local library, 55 and
Over communities, the local country club and corporate wellness sessions for companies like Johnson & Johnson, Deloitte, and more.
I bring something a little different to the role. I’ve spent most of my career in operations, finance, and project management, so I know how to keep things running behind the scenes. But volunteering has always been a big part of my life. I’ve helped lead my children’s PTA, a local basketball organization, and ministries at my church, because I love to give back and help wherever I can. What I love most is the people. I like knowing everyone I work with, talking with our members, and hearing their stories. To me, that’s the heart of running a studio.
That’s also what we’re known for: how people feel when they walk in. Our classes are small, so instructors know your name, your body, and what you’re working through. Most of our members are women in all stages of life and we’ve built a space where they feel strong, supported, and never out of place.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
People might be surprised to learn that I’m a trivia champ and a total pop culture lover. Ask me about movies, music, or celebrity news, and I’ll probably have the answer. My other favorite thing? Rest and Sleep. With everything I juggle, most assume I’m always on the go, yet I truly treasure quiet time. Rest isn’t lazy — it’s how I recharge, so I can show up fully for my family, my team, and our members.
