Hi Alexa, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Hey Party People! My name is Alexa Durant, Founder & Lead Bartender of In Good Spirits & Company – a Mobile Bar & Bartending Service. At IGS we love celebrating life and making a big deal of all your special moments. This has been a calling and passion of mine for as long as I could remember. My friend’s birthdays were always my favorite – surprising a loved one brought me such joy – helping a stranger was always a must. I found myself missing something outside of my day job as a kindergarten teacher. I was caring for tiny humans all day and yearned for more large human interactions! As a teacher, summers are our time to hustle – I worked in downtown Hoboken for long hours and hard work; however, with a Master’s Degree in hand – the labor did not meet the payout. I decided I to lean into that calling and want for mature human connection and make a business out of it. Expanding the downtown clientele and abandoning the downtown atmosphere – I invested in The Cocktail Cart and In Good Spirits & Company was born.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
When I am not behind the bar, I am a full time elementary teacher. I love both my jobs; however, when they both became busy at the same time – it was a hurdle to hop for sure. After being consecutively booked from Memorial Day Weekend through November 8th – I made the difficult decision to scale back and pause the production. What felt like failure at the time, revealed itself as much needed rest! I am so lucky to say that we are now back in full swing, and it’s just as if momentum had never stopped. Taking care of yourself can sometimes be the biggest struggle in your journey.
We’ve been impressed with In Good Spirits & Company, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
In Good Spirits & Company is a Mobile Bar & Bartending Service based out of Bergen County, NJ. We feature our gorgeous white and wooden Cocktail Cart as our bar service centerpiece, but also have more simple bar options available. We offer professional & caring bartending & food service staffing. At IGS we believe that life elevates luxury and that it should be more accessible for hardworking people. We pride ourselves in catering to all of our clients’ visions & vibes while always keeping budget in mind. We can solely provide you a bartender for your built in bar or offer full service select all packages – worry free luxury!
