Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Licciardo.
Hi Anna, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey into healthcare actually began with dance. I went to college to study dance and eventually became a Pilates instructor. After nearly 10 years of working with clients through movement and completing more than 1,000 hours of Pilates training, I became fascinated by the body’s ability to adapt, compensate, and heal. That curiosity ultimately led me to pursue a career as a clinician.
I went on to become a Naturopathic Doctor and Licensed Acupuncturist, combining my background in movement with nutrition, natural medicine, and Traditional Chinese Medicine. I practiced in Connecticut for 10 years, where I built a thriving practice and developed a deep appreciation for getting to know my patients as whole people rather than simply treating individual symptoms.
More recently, I relocated to New Jersey to be closer to family and opened Vitality Integrative Health & Acupuncture. I continue to see many of my Connecticut patients virtually and also accept new patients in Connecticut for virtual naturopathic care, including insurance-based care. In New Jersey, I see patients both in person and virtually for naturopathic consultations and acupuncture.
Throughout my career, my philosophy has remained much the same: the body is adaptable, and it has an incredible capacity to move toward balance and healing. Whether through nutrition, supplements, acupuncture, Traditional Chinese Medicine, movement, or simply helping someone better understand their own body, I love helping people find an approach that feels individualized and realistic for where they are in their lives.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. One of the biggest challenges was making the decision to leave a thriving practice in Connecticut after 10 years and move to New Jersey. I had built strong relationships with my patients and had a practice that I was proud of, so starting over in a new state was both exciting and difficult.
There has also been a lot to navigate behind the scenes, from building a new practice and establishing myself in a new community to figuring out insurance, credentialing, and the logistics of continuing to care for my Connecticut patients virtually.
At times, starting over has felt uncomfortable, but it has also reminded me why I chose this profession in the first place. I’ve learned to be patient with the process, stay open to change, and trust that building something new takes time. One thing that has helped me tremendously is remembering that I don’t have to have everything figured out at once. I can continue to meet people where they are, focus on providing meaningful care, and let the practice grow organically from there.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Vitality Integrative Health & Acupuncture is a whole-person healthcare practice offering naturopathic medicine and acupuncture in New Jersey, as well as virtual naturopathic care for patients in Connecticut and beyond.
What sets my practice apart is the way I look at the whole picture. I don’t want to simply address a symptom or put a band-aid on a problem. I spend time understanding a person’s health history, nutrition, lifestyle, stress, sleep, digestion, hormones, movement, and other factors that may be influencing how they feel. From there, we create an individualized plan that may include nutrition, targeted supplements, acupuncture, Traditional Chinese Medicine, lifestyle changes, and other supportive therapies.
My background in dance and Pilates also strongly influences the way I practice. I have always been fascinated by how the body works, how interconnected everything is, and how small changes can have a meaningful impact. I bring that perspective into my work with patients and encourage people to develop a better understanding of their own bodies rather than feeling disconnected from their health.
I’m particularly passionate about women’s health, hormonal health, perimenopause and menopause, fertility support, chronic health concerns, and helping people feel better through all stages of life. I also offer acupuncture and cosmetic acupuncture, including microneedling and other integrative treatments.
What I’m most proud of about the Vitality brand is that it reflects how I want people to feel when they walk into my practice: supported, heard, and empowered. I want healthcare to feel collaborative rather than intimidating. My goal is to meet people where they are, give them practical tools they can actually use, and help them build a stronger relationship with their own health.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I love most about the area is the sense of community. There are so many small businesses, wellness-focused professionals, local events, and people who genuinely care about creating a great place to live and work. I’ve really enjoyed getting to know other local business owners and becoming part of the community since moving here.
I also love the balance of everything the area offers. There’s a wonderful mix of beautiful outdoor spaces, the beach, great restaurants and shops, and a strong local business community. After living and practicing in Connecticut for many years, it has been exciting to discover a new place and create new connections.
If I had to pick something I like least, I’d probably say the traffic! Coming from Connecticut, I’m still getting used to how busy some of the roads can get, especially during the summer. But honestly, that’s a pretty small price to pay for everything I enjoy about living and practicing here.
