Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Greg Rosenberg.
Hi Dr. Greg, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My path to orthodontics began in a very personal way. As a child, I was in orthodontic treatment for nearly six years. Three years after completing treatment, the gap between my two front teeth returned. It may have only been a millimeter or two of black space but it negatively affected my self-image and confidence. Thankfully, Invisalign has since corrected my space and the experience taught me a valuable lesson: the effect and power one’s smile can have on his or her confidence, happiness and quality of life.
My exposure to orthodontics in dental school ignited the desire that my personal experience as a patient had sparked years earlier. I recall sitting in the preclinical lab during my very first orthodontic lecture. I was immediately captivated by the role that orthodontists play in complex interdisciplinary cases. I was fascinated by the biomechanics of craniofacial muscles, bones and teeth that work in perfect unison for the proper function and aesthetics.
After dental school at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine, I spent three years doing an orthodontics specialty residency in the Bronx. I completed my orthodontic board certification and decided to settle my family down in New Jersey. The first Smile Experience Orthodontics location opened in Wayne shortly before COVID shut down everything. We faced some challenging times in our early days but I stayed focused on my mission – bringing beautiful smiles to patients across New Jersey in a boutique, elevated environment with personalized care and practical treatment plans.
Today, at Smile Experience Orthodontics, I’ve been able to bring my personal and professional experiences together to create a unique office where impeccable treatment meets top quality results. At Smile Experience, patients feel truly cared for and confident in their treatment. What started as a personal experience has grown into a career centered around helping others feel their best through their smiles. I am so grateful to be able to do the work I do!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Less than a year after opening our Wayne location in 2019, COVID forced us to shut down for nearly two months. Like many healthcare providers, we had to adapt quickly – we experimented with virtual consultations, but in orthodontics, not being able to see patients in person meant we could only offer very limited care.
There was a period of real uncertainty where I wasn’t sure if Smile Experience Orthodontics would survive. That experience ultimately strengthened us. It pushed us to become more creative and more intentional about how we connect with and care for our patients.
Through a tremendous amount of hard work, adaptability and the dedication of our awesome team, we were able to recover and grow. We’ve since expanded our reach to Florham Park and Oak Ridge, strengthened our patient relationships and built a practice that is more resilient and forward-thinking than any of our competitors. That challenging period became a turning point that ultimately positioned us for long-term success.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Some of my favorite childhood memories revolve around sports, especially football. I grew up loving the energy, the competition, and the sense of teamwork it created. One of the most defining moments for me was being accepted to University of Michigan – GO BLUE! – it felt like everything I had worked toward came together in that moment.
Looking back, playing and watching sports shaped my mindset in a lot of ways. Sports taught me discipline, resilience and the value of being part of something bigger than yourself. That same mentality carries through today in how I approach both my career and building a team at Smile Experience Orthodontics.
