Today we’d like to introduce you to Naquan White AKA RUC MRQB.
Hi Naquan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.

Street Roots: Raised in the iconic Queensbridge Houses, navigating early adversity, young arrests, and street hustling before channeling those experiences into rap.
Killa Kidz Era: Joined the influential QB group Killa Kidz, securing a major record deal at a young age.
2. Gold Artist Status & QB Finest:
Nas Collaboration: Featured alongside Nas on the landmark track “Real Niggaz” on Nas & Ill Will Records Presents: QB Finest (2000).

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been a smooth road—it was a trial by fire. Coming up in Queensbridge, the largest public housing projects in North America, means facing a million built-in hardships before you even figure out who you are.
Key Struggles & Obstacles Faced
Growing Up Under Pressure: Raised by a strong single mother, navigating an environment where poverty and systemic odds were stacked high from day one.
Loss & Violence at a Young Age: Losing close friends to street violence early on, experiencing raw grief before even reaching adulthood.
Target of Systemic Pressure: Navigating life as a young Black man affiliated with street gangs, constantly being targeted by law enforcement and living under intense scrutiny.
Legal Setbacks: Facing major structural roadblocks, including getting arrested for selling drugs to an undercover officer and an arrest for firearm possession.
Overcoming the Odds
Every single one of those struggles became fuel. Going through the judicial system, losing brothers to the concrete, and surviving the pressure cooker of QB didn’t break the spirit—it forged the grit, authenticity, and survival instinct needed to navigate the music industry, build brands like I Am The Brand Clothing, and guide the next generation
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a recording artist, label executive, and entrepreneur rooted in Queensbridge culture. I specialize in authentic street hip-hop, executive music production, artist development, and brand building.
What I’m Known For: Being an integral voice in Queensbridge hip-hop history—from my early days with Killa Kidz to featuring on the Gold-selling QB Finest album with Nas, launching Tru Warier Records with Ron Artest, and stamping the “I Am QB” movement into a recognized lifestyle.
Current Focus: Running I Am The Brand Clothing, managing my son’s rap career (Nayy), and dropping new music—including recent tracks like “Scorpionz” with Sticky Fingaz and “Symphony 2026.”
What I Am Most Proud Of
My children, plain and simple. Coming from where I came from, surviving the streets, and being able to see my daughter turn 25 and my son turn 19 is my realest achievement. Being a father at 19 meant I had to grow up fast, but now I get to step into executive mode and guide my son, Nayy, through his own music career so he avoids the traps I fell into.
What Sets Me Apart From Others
Longevity, authenticity, and ownership.
Authenticity: Everything in my music comes from real lived experience—from street hardship to global stages.
Multifaceted Vision: I don’t just stay in one lane; I’ve bridged music, sports culture, and street fashion with I Am The Brand Clothing.
Paving the Way: I didn’t just capitalize on Queensbridge’s legacy—I helped build it, maintained my executive independence, and handed down the blueprint to the next generation.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
For me, the qualities most critical to lasting success are resilience, authenticity, and visionary leadership.
Resilience & Adaptability: Overcoming early street hardships, legal obstacles, and loss requires an unshakeable mindset. Success comes from turning every setback into fuel, adapting to industry shifts, and refusing to let circumstances dictate the future.
Uncompromising Authenticity: Staying true to roots—whether in music, storytelling, or business—builds immediate trust and longevity. Real lived experience can’t be faked, and holding onto that edge sets a distinct lane in a crowded industry.
Ownership & Legacy Mindset: Transitioning from an artist to an executive and entrepreneur demands foresight. Building independent platforms like I Am The Brand Clothing and guiding the next generation ensures that success isn’t just a moment, but a lasting footprint.
