Meet Rachel Lopez of New Jersey

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Lopez.

Hi Rachel, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Photography began as a side job that helped me to pay for my college tuition. At the time I was pursuing a career in the medical field and photography was supporting that career path financially but also satisfying my creative side. As I met more couples, booked more sessions and weddings, my business began to grow. I had accidentally built a career from the side job that was supposed to only be paying for my tuition. I quickly realized I was being called to step away from my graduate degree and fully commit to Rachel Lopez Photography.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Initially I had never dreamed of becoming a business owner or creative. I had grown up in a family that encouraged me to find a comfortable, steady job and pursue it without deviation. I did that until my business became too big to ignore as a career option. This was only after spending tens of thousands on education. Stepping away from something that I had poured so much time, effort and money into was not easy.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I believe marriage is a covenant created by God, and photographing it is an honor. My vision is to document authentic, emotive, and timeless imagery that reflects the beauty of a life-long marriage and the joy of the wedding day.

My mission is to serve couples with a peaceful and intentional experience that allows them to be fully present. Every image should hold meaning, connection, and reverence for the love being celebrated.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My husband pushed me to consider pursuing wedding photography full time. If it wasn’t for him, I probably never would have left grad school. My sister-in-law, Lada Jensen is also a wedding photographer, having community is so important and having her grow with me is a great encouragement and blessing.
