Meet Sofia Di Pinto of Di Blu Bakery

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sofia Di Pinto.

Hi Sofia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, and moved to the U.S. in 2022. I started Di Blu Bakery in 2023, almost by accident, from my apartment. I began baking and sharing Argentine pastries with friends and people in my community, and little by little, it turned into something much bigger than I had imagined.

As demand grew, I moved from baking out of my apartment to a production studio in Hoboken, New Jersey, and started building Di Blu into a real business. Today, we specialize in Argentine-inspired baked goods, from our signature medialunas and alfajores to cakes, cookies, and other treats. We sell directly to customers through our online store, work with local cafés and markets, and host baking classes and events.

What started as a small project to share a taste of home has grown into a business that allows me to introduce Argentine food and culture to a much wider community. It’s been a very hands-on journey, and I’ve learned pretty much every part of running a business along the way—from baking and product development to marketing, sales, operations, and everything in between.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely not! Starting and growing a business is much harder than it may look from the outside. It has required a lot of sacrifice, long hours, and wearing many different hats every single day.
One of the biggest challenges was going from running the business out of my home to having a production studio. That transition came with much higher costs, more responsibilities, and a completely different level of commitment. Learning how to manage the business side while continuing to focus on the products and customers has also been a constant learning curve.
There have definitely been stressful and difficult moments, and building a business requires a lot of perseverance. But at the same time, it has been incredibly rewarding. Seeing something that started in my home grow into a real business, create relationships within the community, and bring a little taste of Argentina to people is something I’m very proud of.

We’ve been impressed with Di Blu Bakery, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Di Blu Bakery is an Argentine-inspired bakery based in Hoboken, New Jersey. We specialize in bringing traditional Argentine flavors to the Tri-State area, with products like our signature medialunas, alfajores, cakes, cookies, and other homemade treats.
What sets Di Blu apart is that we care just as much about the experience as we do about the products themselves. Quality is at the heart of everything we do. We make our products with great attention to detail and strive to stay true to the flavors and traditions that inspired the brand. At the same time, customer service is a huge part of who we are. We want every customer to feel welcomed, heard, and genuinely valued.
I’m especially proud of the community and reputation we’ve built around the brand. Di Blu started as a very small business from my apartment, and today we work with customers, cafés, markets, and local organizations throughout the area. Seeing people who grew up with these flavors feel connected to home, while also seeing people discovering Argentine food for the first time, is incredibly meaningful to us.
At the end of the day, Di Blu is about more than baked goods. It’s about sharing a little piece of Argentina, creating connections through food, and making sure that every interaction with our brand feels as special as the products we make.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
One thing I’d love for readers to know is that Di Blu is more than just a bakery! In addition to our baked goods, we also host baking classes, private events, and fun experiences where people can come together, bake, and enjoy Argentine-inspired food.

We love creating opportunities for people to connect through food, whether they’re looking to learn something new, celebrate a special occasion, or simply enjoy a taste of Argentina. We’re always looking for new ways to bring the community together and make Di Blu a place where people can create memories, not just enjoy something delicious.
