Meet Wesley Arcentales of Fair Lawn, NJ

Today we’d like to introduce you to Wesley Arcentales.

Hi Wesley, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a Doctor of Physical therapy from Seton Hall University, I was working in private and corporate physical therapy clinics for about 10 years until I decided I wanted to do this for myself and my patients. My experiences had led me to see how to manage a business, what to do, what not to do, and above all put patients first the rest will fall in place. I currently also am the head physical therapist for the new professional soccer team NY Cosmos. That came about from prior pro soccer patient who I was able to treat and now he brought me in to his medical team for the Cosmos.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I would say the biggest struggles were getting the build out going and putting the hours in early on. To make sure I succeeded I was open every day basically for 3 months and also worked at a skilled nursing facility. Around the 3 month mark is when things started to improve and I was able to decrease the amount I worked and also no longer worked for anyone else.

Some struggles I face is when to go ahead and hire support staf.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a physical Therapist and specialize in orthopedics and sports rehabilitation. I would say I am known for taking care of athletes. I would say I am most proud of making sure my patients return back to what they love to do but better and stronger than when they were injured. I go out of my way to make sure they transition fully back to the team/sport. I take the athlete to the fields because in honesty that’s where the test is done to make sure they will be safe returning to their sport. I believe what sets me apart from others is that I care and put patients first, their treatment is specific to their own goals and they won’t get cookie cutter treatments. Rehab could be long for some and you won’t be doing the same standard exercises coming to me.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
For this starting out I would say get some experience under your belt. Make sure treating patients is your best asset and sort of speak easy, not something that you still are trying to understand.
