Rising Stars: Meet Joseph Garcia of New Jersey

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joseph Garcia.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
In 2015 Hillsborough Township NJ and surrounding areas had a need for a better way to get driven places. At the introduction of Uber and Lyft there wasn’t a reliable service especially in the rural parts of Hunterdon and Somerset county.

I came from a long line of Men in my family that worked very long hours, who were business owners, entrepreneurs and idea creators.

As a child I would wake up at 4:30 AM to sell my old toys with my Uncle at his 4X a week market run. I used to then buy new toys with my earning or give it to charity.

As I got older I turned into a waiter and eventually Manager at many local eateries around town.

I always had the gift to be able to interact with any type of person I came into contact with. I think that is due to my engagement with the public at an early age. This set my people skills and customer service skills. I was taught early on the customer is Gold or King!

I spent much of my life trying to always please others and that’s what I take great pride in. Making everyone have a memorable experience and to learn something new or exciting on our journey. If you want just a driver… I’m not it!

Over the years I expanded my fleet as well as hired many local drivers that have the same passion as I do in this business. We serve Somerset, Hunterdon, and Middlesex counties. We will bring you to the airports, NYC, Philadelphia, celebrate your wedding or even grieve with you during funerals. We have expanded also to include informational and exciting walking tours with food included.

My company is also very proud of the charitable works we contribute to and we are blessed to still serve this community 11 years later.

I pray to God daily that he blesses this business and my niche local community and to help me continue to do good works for all that I encounter on my journey of life.

Respectfully Submitted,
Joseph Garcia, President
Jersey Drive Services

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The first struggle along the way was in 2020 when the world shut down. I quickly had to jump into action to save my business. We first refunded 16K in pre-booked rides as those trips never went out. Next step, was to stay home and save lives except for me and my team as we turned into a grocery and anything you wanted delivery service as well as personal shoppers. The older community especially loved the weekly interaction with us VIA FaceTime. The ladies would dress up and put makeup on for our short delivery encounter or just to see us again and get a bit of love!

Next hurdle was Hurricane IDA where I was almost killed driving back in my Escalade that night. Water came inside up to my waste and had to break out back window. The following week insurance paid out my claim and I then in turn helped Manville a very blue collar town that struggles more than other towns some relief. I teamed up with Uneeda Appliances to get everything Manville needed and at cost with free delivery. We donated approximately 29 K in appliances to the flooded residents.

My final and not last hurdle I’m sure was when the FAA and ATC debacle last April we lost soo much revenue that quarter due to people being scared to fly or flying out from places such as Philadelphia or New York where there is less profit margin for us. We did recover but that quarter and the next quarter were very tough for our company.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We take a lot of pride in our advertising and our charitable contributions to our town of Hillsborough as well as other local charities in the area such as; “Dance For A Cure” We do not pay for ads as I create 2-3 videos a day (day in the life) reels on FB Insta And Tik Tok. Making these videos act as my therapy and it puts my day in perspective and I learn a lot from my daily situations people places and things all around me and my company. Each one teach one!

What matters most to you?
The people and their happiness and getting to where they need to be on time and safely while also doing good charitable works along the way.
