Today we’d like to introduce you to Twyla Grider.
Hi Twyla, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started by career as an assistant to the owner of a men’s wear atelier, Everette Hall in Washington DC. From there I continued as a stylist to Washington, d.c. elite. I went back to school at Drexel University for post grad work in Fashion Design, interning for Michael Kors and Tracy Reese. Before completing my post grad work I landed my first job as a designer for Jessica Simpson. Since, I’ve worked for brands such as Nine West, Robert Rodriguez, Seven 7 Jeans, among other major brands. Now I own my own design firm Stellar Creative Collective, a design firm specializing in fashion and interior design work.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Initially I struggled getting my footing. I didn’t have a road map. So I followed every opportunity presented to me. I believe this is why I am so resilient as an artist and why my portfolio expands beyond fashion.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a classically trained fashion designer, and tailor. But I consider myself to be a Creator, Cultivator, and Curator. I create apparel, costumes, spaces etc. As a fashion designer, I help my clients develop their ideas into a tangible product. I have a collection: eve by twilight (www.evenbytwilight.com). I am know for designing amazing leather jackets and great fitting jeans for women with curves. I touch every single piece from beginning to end. And I’m really proud of my small line.
I create costumes for theatrical productions when commissioned.
I cultivate talent as an adjunct professor of Fashion at Stevenson University in Baltimore, MD. I also mentor young designers.
I curate spaces as an interior designer. This is new for me as I completed my first two projects in 2025.
I’m so proud of being agile and allowing the work to come to me and being able to execute.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
