Hi Vanessa, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
After high school, I enlisted in the Army National Guard. When I finished basic training and came back home, I decided to pursue cosmetology school and that’s where everything changed. I fell in love with waxing. Once I got licensed, I took a position with a corporate wax chain, where I built my skills, gained real experience, and genuinely loved the clients and people I worked alongside.
But I always knew that one day I wanted something of my own. Making that leap wasn’t easy. I am a single mom, and opening a salon meant making some tough sacrifices, including moving back in with my parents to make it work financially. I’m incredibly grateful for my family’s support because, honestly, I couldn’t have done it without them. All that hard work led me to where I am today. owning and operating Beach Body Waxing, doing what I love, for myself and my community.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Honestly, it was far from a smooth ride. One of my biggest obstacles was that I’m the first entrepreneur in my family. There was no one ahead of me to call for advice, no one who had been through it before, it was just me figuring everything out on my own. Google became my best friend. From business licenses to permits to everything it takes to operate an official, legitimate salon, I was researching all of it myself.
That part was scary, because I didn’t just want to open a business, I wanted to do it the right way. Making sure every box was checked, every license was in order, every requirement was met. When you don’t have a roadmap and you’re doing it alone, that weight sits entirely on your shoulders. I felt sick to my stomach most of time because I was so scared of failing.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Beach Body Waxing?
Beach Body Waxing is, above everything else, a judgment-free zone. Everyone is welcome here no matter your size, gender, or background. I want every single person who walks through my door to feel comfortable and at ease, because I know that coming in for a wax, especially for the first time, can feel vulnerable.
I specialize in full body waxing for both men and women, and one of my biggest areas of expertise is Brazilian waxing for all genders. That’s something not everyone offers, and I’m proud to be a safe, welcoming space for anyone who needs that service.
What sets me apart goes beyond just the services themselves. I am bilingual. I speak both English and Spanish, so I’m able to connect with and serve a wider community in a way that feels personal and comfortable. I also specialize in waxing plus-size clients, because everyone deserves to be serviced with care, skill, and zero judgment. Comfort is something I take seriously across the board from the products I use to the way I communicate with my clients throughout their appointment.
Brand wise, what I want people to know is that Beach Body Waxing is a place where you belong. Whatever you’ve been nervous about, whatever has held you back from booking leave that at the door. You are welcome here, exactly as you are.
What are your plans for the future?
My goal is to run Beach Body Waxing full time. Right now, I balance the salon alongside part time work elsewhere, but my vision is to reach a point where my clientele is strong and steady enough that I can dedicate myself to my business completely and that day is coming.
Once I’m fully focused on the salon, the next step is growth. I’d love to bring on other talented waxers who share my values. People who are skilled, welcoming, and passionate about making every client feel comfortable. Building a team that reflects the heart of what Beach Body Waxing stands for is something I really look forward to.It’s been a journey getting here, but I’m building something I’m truly proud of and I’m just getting started.
