Meet Eric Morrell of Law Offices of Eric B. Morrell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Morrell.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was raised in Middlesex County. I pursued my undergraduate studies at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. I was actively involved in the Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity, where I served as an advisor for the Rutgers Sigma Alpha Mu chapter and was a member of the Sigma Alpha Mu national standards committee for several years.

I obtained my law degree from Widener-Delaware Law School in 1997. Following law school, I worked as an associate at A. Kenneth Weiner’s law firm in East Brunswick where I gained experienced in Criminal Jury Trials and Municipal Court. I later served as a Public Defender for my hometown in Scotch Plains. I continue to maintain my involvement in Scotch Plains as a member of the town’s Zoning Board.

Today, I have my own law firm in downtown New Brunswick where I practice Criminal Defense, DUI/DWI, Municipal Court Defense, and Expungements. Since our law firm is in New Brunswick, we frequently represent Rutgers University students in criminal offenses and Title XI work. We are also proud to employ Rutgers students in our law office as paralegals. Many of these students go to law school and then often work as clerks in the court house in Middlesex County.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Some days the waters are rocky and life can be hard, but it is important to continue to persevere and ensure the best for my clients.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I have been practicing for more than 25 years in criminal defense at the Law Offices of Eric B. Morrell. My main goal for my clients is that when they leave my office, they become, “positive contributing members to society.” I encourage them to improve themselves and we usually refer them to rehabilitation programs, anger management, and psychologists. Our objective is to work hard to achieve the best results on their case. I take pride and care about all of our clients. My motto is I am fighter, not a handshaker.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Essential qualities and characteristics I feel are the most important to my success are being conscientious, persistent, professional, and caring. I am proud to say that my staff also listens to people’s concerns and try to understand their issues and charges.
