Today we’d like to introduce you to Robert H. Hamilton.
Hi Robert H., so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I got my start doing 3D architectural rendering for builders, architects, and other contractors in the coastal areas of South Jersey. What kept pulling me forward was a simple question: how do you let someone walk through and experience a new construction home before it’s actually built?
The more I dug into that, the more I realized it solved two common real estate problems at the same time. For developers, it completely de-risked speculative builds by securing early home buyers before ground was broken. For home buyers, it gave them that interactive experience they love on the big portal websites (Zillow, Redfin, Homes.com), but for a home that doesn’t exist yet! And no one was really operating in this pre-construction space yet.
That became Hyatt Creative Design’s pre-construction virtual media hub, all built around one idea: let home buyers experience homes before they exist!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Honestly, no, I wouldn’t exactly call it a “smooth road”, but the bumps were kind of the fun part! Early on, we found out the tech adoption curve was REAL, builders hadn’t seen this kind of immersive technology used this way before, and a lot of agents were happy sticking with what they already knew. So a big part of the early days was just showing people what was possible with 3D modeling and rendering, one project at a time.
No kind of similar service existed off the shelf, so I ended up building most of it myself, which felt less like solving a problem and more like getting to invent something that solved MANY problems.
And it still doesn’t sit still, which I love. Rendering engines keep getting better, workflows keep evolving, and what caught a buyer’s eye four years ago just doesn’t hit the same way today. Keeping up with the constant changes is genuinely one of my favorite parts of doing this. I’m always diving into real estate consumer data while creating and testing new interactive features for our virtual media hub, and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Hyatt Creative Design is a 3D architectural visualization studio based in Ocean City, New Jersey, working with builders, developers, and architects on new construction real estate projects throughout the Jersey Shore. We create marketing visuals via photorealistic 3D renderings, animated video, 360° virtual tours, and fully autonomous virtual reality walkthroughs with our provided VR headset that lets people experience a home before it’s built.
All of our media is delivered through a centralized virtual hub, built specifically for pre-construction real estate marketing. Alongside the visuals, the centralized hub includes a construction progress tracker, material spec lists, and digital media that developers can share directly with investors and lenders, along with a sales lead capture tool for interested buyers.
Every project is built directly from architectural plans, so the final result is a scaled and identical 3D replica of a proposed home.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
Two books stand out for me: The Lean Startup by Eric Ries and The Innovator’s Dilemma by Clayton Christensen. Both have been absolutely integral to how I’ve strategized and grown Hyatt Creative Design over the past couple of years. The Lean Startup shaped how I think about building and testing new ideas quickly instead of over-planning them, and The Innovator’s Dilemma has stuck with me because it explains exactly the kind of gap I saw in this industry, established players sticking with what works until something newer and better makes that approach obsolete. Both books, honestly, feel like they were written for exactly the position I’ve been in, building something new in an industry that wasn’t quite ready for it yet!
Pricing:
- Pricing is flat rate and project-based rather than hourly or subscription-based. Every home design is different, so cost depends on factors like the size and complexity of the property, how many deliverables are needed, and the project timeline. Because of that, I quote each project individually rather than publishing a fixed price list, that way clients are only paying for exactly what their project needs.
