Today we’d like to introduce you to Patrice Horvath.
Hi Patrice, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I spent several years working at medium-sized agencies, wearing a lot of hats. I had direct client contact and got to work across a wide variety of industries and design projects, which was great experience but also had me craving something different. I wanted more freedom and flexibility, both in how I worked and who I got to work with.
That’s what led me to start Patrice Horvath Design. I wanted to build something of my own, where I could bring that same range of experience but focus specifically on service-based businesses that needed strong branding and websites to match the quality of what they actually offer. A lot of small business owners have incredible skills but their brand and online presence don’t reflect that yet, and I love being the person who helps close that gap.
Today I work with wellness professionals, therapists, dietitians, interior designers, authors, and other creative entrepreneurs across the country, all from right here in New Jersey. My process is strategy-first: before any logo or website design starts, I want to understand a client’s goals, their ideal customer, and where they want their business to go. That approach has become the foundation of everything I do, and running things this way, on my own terms, is exactly the freedom and flexibility I was looking for.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Honestly, the first few years after going out on my own were more exploratory than I expected. Alongside client work, I leaned into illustration and surface pattern design, creating artwork that ended up on stationery, home decor, and apparel products, and building licensing relationships along the way. It was a fun creative outlet, but it also meant my business wasn’t fully focused in one direction yet.
Then, post-pandemic, I had kids, and my priorities shifted. Around the same time, I noticed so many people launching their own businesses and needing real support to get their brand and website off the ground. That was the moment I came back to my roots. I streamlined my offerings, leaned more into web design alongside branding, and built the more focused business I run today. It wasn’t a smooth straight line, but every phase of it, the agency years, the illustration work, becoming a mom, shaped the strategic, full-picture approach I bring to client projects now.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I run a boutique branding and Squarespace web design studio, where I help small businesses and service-based entrepreneurs build a professional brand identity and website that actually reflects the quality of what they do. My core services include strategic branding and logo design, custom Squarespace websites, and SEO foundations, and I mostly work with wellness professionals, therapists, dietitians, interior designers, authors, educators, and other creative, service-based businesses.
What I’m known for is my strategy-first approach. Before any logo, color, or website layout gets designed, I dig into a client’s goals, their ideal customer, and where they want their business to go. That process means the end result isn’t just something that looks nice, it’s something built to actually support how they attract clients and grow.
What I’m most proud of is being able to guide clients through the entire process, from first figuring out their brand identity to launching a fully custom website, and giving them the training and tools to manage it confidently afterward. What sets me apart is that range: a lot of designers specialize in either branding or web design, but I handle both under one roof with one cohesive strategy, so nothing gets lost in translation between a client’s brand and their site.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
