Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Sebahie.
Hi Michael, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve been barbering for over 13 years now and honestly it kind of grew into something bigger than I ever expected. I’ve always been competitive, I wrestled and played football for Paramus high school growing up, and boxed for years , so I think I brought that same mindset into barbering. I’m always trying to get better at the craft and learn as much as I could.Over the years, I realized barbering is about way more than just the haircut. You build real relationships with people. We end up building a community.. and that’s something I feel the modern barber is missing. old school guys used to know everyone and their stories and I am trying to bring that back. I’ve had clients long enough that I’ve watched them graduate middle school, high school and college even some get married, have kids, start businesses and go through all different stages of life…Eventually I wanted my own place and I wanted it to feel a little different, more personal and comfortable. a hub for men to be them selves while still build that community I spoke of. That’s how The Barber Suite started. It definitely didn’t happen overnight. It was a lot of long days, mistakes, failures and lessons learned as I went .. yet I showed up every day. I’ve been favored enough to win a few awards which I’m really proud of, but honestly the relationships and clientele I’ve built mean the most to me. Now being a husband and a new father, I look at the business differently. I want to keep growing it, but more importantly build something my family can be proud of one day. I’m still learning, still building and honestly just trying to get a little better every day.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
of course its never really an smooth road but there’s no better way to learn then a few bumps. the finances the time and lack of understand is always a goo done but I do have a lot faith and with that am very undemanding that it always works its way out. as long as you try to do good.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
im a all around barber with a cosmetology license to do it all. I do facials old school hot towel shaves modern fades and all scissor work. Id say may favorite thing to do is create an envoment where someone feels inspired! the Total package ( the executive experience) is my favorite service it leaves me enough time to not just give a great haircut but allows me to give a relaxing shave and then a refreshing facial all while getting to know my client for the next hour or so! I guess im known mostly for my out look and philosophy of life. im most proud of the family and friends I have grown with work is just a means to life the life I love! what sets me apart is the outlook I have I see working as a barber/stylist as being a middle man I always have stone to put in connection in the right spot !
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
with work what matters the most is they way the client feels when in my chair and when they leave that chair! I hope that I can inspire and set ablaze the fire with in each client!
personally my family its the main reason to do anything with all my hearty to leave behind a legacy not a material one but something that can live on for ever
