Inspiring Conversations with Honey Meerzon of Home junction LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Honey Meerzon.

Hi Honey, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My entrepreneurial story started with a strong foundation in finance. I earned my degree in Accountancy from Rutgers University and later earned my Master’s in Taxation from the University of Tulsa.

In 2000, I took that education and opened HDN Accounting Group, where I prepared tax returns and worked directly with clients. Starting my own company at a young age taught me very quickly how to rely on myself, make decisions, solve problems, and create my own opportunities.

In 2009, I took a completely different leap and became the owner of Kiddie Academy of Freehold. Childcare was a new industry for me, but I’ve never been afraid to enter a space I didn’t know and learn it from the ground up. Over the years, I grew the academy into a business serving hundreds of children and families. It taught me an enormous amount about leadership, operations, managing people, and the responsibility of building a business that families and employees depend on.

My entrepreneurial path eventually led me into real estate, construction, renovations, and development. I became passionate about finding properties, recognizing their potential, and figuring out how to turn a vision into reality.

I built my businesses independently while also raising my family. I married my husband, Julian, in 2020, after I had already spent 20 years as an entrepreneur. Julian and I later joined forces with Home Junction, our construction, renovation, and real estate development company. Together, we have continued to grow from individual homes and renovations into larger-scale development projects throughout New Jersey.

Looking back, I realize that every chapter prepared me for the next one. My accounting and tax background taught me to understand the numbers behind a business. Kiddie Academy taught me operations and leadership. Real estate taught me to recognize opportunity, and construction taught me how to take an idea from paper and actually build it.

There was never a perfect roadmap. I’ve always been willing to ask questions, learn what I didn’t know, take calculated risks, and work incredibly hard.

More than 25 years after opening my first business, I still love what I loved in the beginning: building something from nothing, watching it grow, and then asking myself, “What can I build next?”

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t always been an easy road, but I’ve been very fortunate that my projects have gone according to plan. For me, the challenges were less about things going wrong and more about everything it took behind the scenes to make sure they went right.

I built my businesses while raising my children, and for many years I did it on my own. There was no real separation between being a mother and being a business owner. I learned how to manage employees, clients, finances, and major decisions while still making my children and family my priority.

Another challenge was constantly stepping into new industries. I started in accounting and taxation, moved into childcare, and eventually entered real estate development and construction. Each time, I had to learn an entirely new business from the ground up.

Construction brought its own challenges because it is such a male-dominated industry. I learned that the best way to earn respect was to know my numbers, understand every aspect of my projects, ask questions, and be confident in my decisions.

The biggest challenge throughout my career has probably been carrying the responsibility that comes with being the person everyone looks to for an answer. But that responsibility also made me stronger. I learned to trust my instincts, stay organized, anticipate problems before they happen, and never be afraid of hard work.

The road wasn’t always easy, but I wouldn’t change it. Every challenge taught me something that helped prepare me for the next level.

As you know, we’re big fans of Home junction LLC . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I’ve never defined myself by one industry. I’m an entrepreneur first, and over the past 25 years I’ve built and operated businesses in accounting, childcare, logistics, real estate, construction, and development.

I started with HDN Accounting Group in 2000 after earning my degree in Accountancy from Rutgers University and my Master’s in Taxation from the University of Tulsa. That financial background became the foundation for everything I’ve done since. No matter what industry you are in, understanding the numbers matters.

I’ve owned Kiddie Academy of Freehold since 2009, which today serves hundreds of children and families. That business is especially meaningful because families are trusting us with what matters most to them: their children. It taught me that a strong business is built on trust, consistency, leadership, and the people you surround yourself with.

I also own DND Delivery LLC, an Amazon Delivery Service Partner. We operate a team of dozens of drivers, and that business requires an incredible amount of organization, accountability, logistics, and day-to-day management.

Home Junction is the construction, renovation, and real estate development company I own with my husband, Julian. Together, we have completed more than 150 projects ranging from renovations and flips to construction, new builds, and development. Today, we are taking on larger development projects throughout New Jersey, including a 20-unit luxury condominium development in Red Bank.

What sets me apart is how involved I am in my businesses. I’m not someone who simply owns a company from a distance. I know my numbers, I know my teams, and I pay attention to the details. If there is something I don’t understand, I make it my business to learn it.

What I’m most proud of is that I’ve been able to build successful businesses in completely different industries while maintaining the same principles throughout all of them: work hard, understand your business, treat people well, pay attention to the details, and never stop growing.

I want readers to know that you don’t have to stay in one lane. Everything I’ve learned along the way, from accounting and taxation to childcare, logistics, construction, and real estate, has helped prepare me for the next opportunity. I’m still building, still learning, and still excited about what comes next.
