Albert E., we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My entrepreneurial story officially began on paper with a small creative business called “Letter It Special by Al.” I created personalized lettering and designs for people, and although it started simply, it was my first official business. Looking back, the foundation of Mr. Kreative was already there: taking an idea, making it personal and turning it into something another person could enjoy.
Writing remained at the heart of my creativity. It became the way I processed life, expressed myself and connected with other people. In 2003, I founded Kreative Rytings Unlimited as a home for my writing and ideas, and in 2013 it officially became an LLC. What began with lettering, poetry and books gradually expanded into film, music, apparel, entertainment, food products, community programming and media.
My journey has not been a straight or easy road. I have survived serious injuries, prostate cancer, forced retirement and tremendous personal loss, including the passing of my wife of 22 years. Each experience could have stopped me, but instead it deepened my understanding of purpose. Creativity became more than something I enjoyed—it became part of how I survived, healed and continued serving others.
Over the years, I published books, developed original film characters and stories, produced community events, created children’s programming, worked in entertainment, developed my own seasonings and launched Kreative VYBN with Mr. Kreative, an internet radio station built around music, storytelling and positive energy. I have also remained committed to community service through my leadership within the Elks and other local initiatives.
People sometimes look at everything I do and ask why I don’t choose only one thing. I eventually realized that I did choose one thing: creativity. Every project falls beneath the same umbrella—using imagination, available resources and lived experience to create something meaningful.
Today, Kreative Rytings Unlimited represents that complete vision. My guiding message is “Live Life Kreatively,” and VYBN means “Vision Yourself Being Necessary.” I want people to recognize that they may already possess the skills, equipment, relationships or ideas needed to move forward. Before searching for something new, I encourage them to ask: “Are you using what you already have?”
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. My journey has included physical trauma, illness, forced retirement, grief, financial pressure and the everyday challenge of building something when other people may not fully understand the vision.
Years ago, I was seriously wounded while trying to protect others. I spent time in intensive care, endured multiple medical procedures and lived with a colostomy for six months. I later suffered a rotator cuff injury that contributed to my forced retirement, and I am also a prostate cancer survivor. Each physical setback forced me to adjust how I worked, but none of them removed my desire to create or serve.
The most difficult challenge was losing my wife, Jacqueline, after 22 years of marriage. Her passing in 2020 changed every part of my life. More recently, I also experienced the loss of my mother. Grief does not follow a business schedule. There were periods when I had ideas and responsibilities but did not always have the same energy, focus or emotional strength. Creativity became one of the ways I kept moving and found meaning through those losses.
Building a multifaceted company has brought another challenge: people frequently tell me that I should choose only one thing. For a while, that made me question whether my range was a weakness. I eventually understood that creativity is the one thing connecting everything I do. The challenge was not having too many abilities—it was learning how to organize them beneath one clear vision and use what I already had.
I do not use my experiences as a crutch, but I do allow them to give my work meaning. My story has taught me that being knocked down does not mean you have reached the end. Sometimes it means you must rebuild differently. My philosophy became simple: Why not you? Keep going. Success is not about having a perfect road; it is about continuing to create purpose from whatever the road places in front of you.

I am a multidisciplinary artist, author, filmmaker, media personality and creative entrepreneur known professionally as Mr. Kreative. Through Kreative Rytings Unlimited, I transform original ideas into stories, products, entertainment and community experiences.
Writing remains the foundation of my work. I have published books including “Kreative Rytings,” “Kreative Rytings: My Continued Journey,” “Where We Lost” and the children’s book “Lo On The Go.” I am also developing the psychological-supernatural world of “Mr. Kray,” which includes books, short films, visual storytelling and interactive experiences.
My creativity extends into music and media through Kreative VYBN with Mr. Kreative, my internet radio station. The station allows me to present house music, soul, jazz, gospel, independent artists, original commercials and recurring spoken-word and storytelling segments. Its message is that VYBN is not simply a vibe—it means “Vision Yourself Being Necessary.”
Beyond writing and broadcasting, I create apparel and promotional materials, produce and host events, develop food concepts and seasonings, and use my equipment and experience to help bring other people’s ideas to life. My work may take several forms, but it always centers on creativity, storytelling, connection and service.
I am especially proud that my creativity has never been limited to personal recognition. I use it to support community organizations, promote independent artists and businesses, encourage children, honor community leaders and create opportunities for people who might otherwise be overlooked.
What sets me apart is my ability to see connections between things that other people may view as unrelated. I can take a written idea and develop it into a book, film concept, song, visual campaign, live event or community experience. I do not believe creativity must remain inside one box.
My approach is best expressed through a question I have recently begun asking: “Are you using what you already have?” Many people are searching for their next opportunity while overlooking their existing skills, relationships, equipment and experience. I want my work to demonstrate that innovation often begins by recognizing the value that is already within you and creatively putting it to use.
What does success mean to you?
I define success as being able to live with purpose, use what I have been given and leave something meaningful behind for my family and community.
Money is important because it provides stability, supports the mission and allows ideas to grow, but money alone is not success. Success is having the freedom to create, being able to meet my responsibilities and knowing that something I produced helped another person believe in themselves, discover an opportunity or feel seen.
I also measure success through impact. If a child remembers an encouraging song, an independent artist hears their music on my station, a community organization receives support, a reader finds strength in my words or a family leaves one of my events with a lasting memory, that matters to me.
Success does not require a perfect life or an uninterrupted path. After everything I have survived and lost, continuing to create is itself a form of success. Every time I choose purpose over giving up, I am succeeding.
Ultimately, success means turning vision into action. It means not merely dreaming about the life or impact you want, but living it. My goal is to build a legacy that reflects creativity, service, resilience and the belief that each of us is necessary. That is why I say, “Live Life Kreatively” and “Vision Yourself Being Necessary.”
