Today we’d like to introduce you to Jorge Darquea.
Jorge, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
It started off with me wanting to focus on a career in tech, I first studied UX Design at a online bootcamp at UCF. During that time, I learned alot about thoughtful creations, actively listening to users and creating designs based on what they need. With my learnings, I decided to create Union City Designs, taking what I learned and applying it. I wanted to give back to the community im a way that benefits everybody. While UC Designs when through many iterations, I finally landed on what you see today. Throughout this time, I have helped customers in ways I didn’t necessarily sign up for, but I was always glad to use it as an opportunity to learn more and just help others.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth road, Creating this on my own while just juggling my personal life, it was difficult. But I am grateful it worked out, I was able to learn so much. There are always doubts in your mind, but it’s important to ignore the noise and just focus on your work instead.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am currently unemployed, but I am working on certifications in the tech space and have already some of the ones I need. I would say I’m known for being the tech guy, I’m usually the person my family calls when they need some help. I’m most proud of what I accomplished in life in general, it hasn’t always been easy with my disability, but I’m proud knowing that the obstacles I faced have just made me the person I am today.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I believe AI will cause a big change, it will be easier for future customers to create what they need with AI. But I also believe, there’s no replacing the human touch and communication.
