Today we’d like to introduce you to Caitlyn McCreary.
Hi Caitlyn, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
After graduating from college, I was working from home in pharmaceutical marketing. but because I was home all day, I often felt isolated and disconnected. The one hour I spent working out each morning became the thing I looked forward to the most. It gave me a sense of routine, helped me feel like myself, and gave me an opportunity to get out of the house and connect with other people.
At the pace I was going, I constantly felt tired and burnt out. I could not imagine continuing that lifestyle while also being present for a family one day. I knew I needed to make a change and create a career that would give me more freedom and allow me to feel present and fulfilled, while still working, being creative, and building something meaningful.
My love for fitness and wellness, combined with my desire to create a better future for myself and my family, inspired me to create Ritual. I wanted it to be an all-in-one space where fitness, wellness, and community could come together under one roof. I envisioned a place that felt elevated and beautiful, but still as comfortable and welcoming as your own living room.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been the smoothest road. I started Ritual without any previous experience owning a business, so I’ve had to learn almost everything as I go. There is so much that happens behind the scenes, and some days it feels like I’m doing ten different jobs at once.
One of the hardest parts has been learning that I can’t control everything. Things don’t always go according to plan, and there have been plenty of mistakes, unexpected expenses, never-ending days, and times I’ve felt completely unsure of the right decision. It can also be difficult to fully switch off because my brain is always thinking about new ideas, ways to improve, and what isn’t working.
I’m still learning how to ask for help, trust my team, and accept that everything isn’t always going to be perfect. Even though it has been extremely challenging, I have an amazing support system and team who continue to help me move forward, grow into a better leader, and make Ritual better and better.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Ritual Fitness + Wellness is an all-in-one fitness and wellness studio in Allendale, New Jersey. We specialize in Lagree fitness, contrast therapy, and red light therapy, giving our clients a place to move, recover, and take care of themselves all under one roof.
Our Megaformer classes are high-intensity and low-impact, with only ten machines in the studio. Keeping our classes small allows our instructors to get to know our clients, provide individual attention, and create a more personal experience. Our wellness offerings include private contrast therapy sessions with an infrared sauna and cold plunge, as well as a full-body red light therapy bed.
What sets Ritual apart is the full experience. I never wanted it to feel like a place where you rush in for a workout and immediately leave. The studio was designed to feel elevated but comfortable, almost like your own living room. Guests can take a class, enjoy a wellness session, grab a coffee or tea, and spend time connecting with others. We also include thoughtful touches like cold eucalyptus towels after your workout and a Dyson blow-dry bar because I want people to feel taken care of from the moment they walk in.
What I’m most proud of is the amazing community we’ve created. Ritual is so much more than the services we offer. Our team genuinely knows and cares about every person who walks through our doors, and we’ve had the opportunity to watch so many friendships and connections form. Seeing people come in for a workout and leave with more confidence, new friendships, and a place where they truly feel like they belong is exactly why I created Ritual.
How do you think about luck?
I think a lot of luck comes down to being in the right place at the right time, and the idea for Ritual came to me at the perfect time in my life. I was ready for a change, and even though I’d never owned a business before, I knew I had to take the chance.
Finding our space in Allendale was also a huge moment of luck. There were other established businesses interested in it, but the owners believed in me and took a chance on a brand-new business that hadn’t even come to life yet. I opened the doors to Ritual in June 2025 and got married exactly one year later, in June 2026. It was one of the busiest and most overwhelming seasons of my life, but also one of the most exciting and meaningful.
More than anything, I’ve been lucky to have such amazing people around me. I have an incredibly supportive family, amazing friends, and a team that believes in me and in Ritual. They’ve helped me through the difficult moments and have been there to celebrate all of the exciting ones too.
Of course, bad luck happens and things don’t always go according to plan. Still, I truly believe everything happens for a reason and is part of a greater purpose. Even the setbacks have taught me something, redirected me, or eventually led me to a better decision.
