Today we’d like to introduce you to De Bolton.
Hi De, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey into health and wellness started with my own life.
Nine years ago, I was more than 100 pounds heavier and trying to figure out what it meant to truly care for myself. At first, my focus was mostly physical exercise, nutrition, and changing my body. But over time, I realized that health was much bigger than what happened in the gym or on the scale. I often describe that season by saying I had been overweight physically, but underweight spiritually. As my relationship with Jesus deepened, so did my understanding of what whole-person health could look like.
That personal journey eventually became a desire to serve and teach others. I began working in fitness, became a personal trainer, and continued studying movement, corrective exercise, yoga, Pilates, nutrition, and health coaching. The more I learned, the more interested I became in the connection between the body, nervous system, behavior, faith, and the experiences we carry with us.
Over the years, my work has grown from primarily teaching fitness into a much more holistic approach to health. Today, I work as a Christian Holistic Health Practitioner, health coach, personal trainer, and movement educator, helping women, especially women 40 and beyond build strength and pursue whole-person health with Jesus at the center.
I teach strength training, Pilates, and yoga, provide health coaching and education, and create programs and experiences that help people care for their bodies without separating physical health from the rest of who they are.
What started as my own attempt to become healthier has grown into work that allows me to combine many of the things I care deeply about: faith, movement, education, health, and helping people develop a more sustainable and compassionate relationship with their bodies.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a smooth road.
Some of the biggest struggles have been personal. My own health journey came out of a season where I had a lot to untangle not only physically, but emotionally and spiritually. Losing more than 100 pounds changed my body, but it also showed me that changing your body does not automatically heal everything underneath it. I had to learn that health was not simply about becoming smaller, exercising harder, or being more disciplined.
There have also been difficult parts of my story that shaped the way I see people and the way I approach wellness. I grew up around instability and experienced seasons of rejection, hurt, and having to become strong very early in life. Those experiences gave me compassion for the fact that what we carry emotionally often affects how we care for ourselves physically.
Professionally, one of the challenges has been allowing my work to evolve. I entered the wellness space through fitness, but over time I began seeing the limitations of an approach that focused primarily on workouts, weight loss, and appearance. I became increasingly interested in nervous-system health, behavior change, trauma-informed care, nutrition, and the spiritual side of wellness. That meant continuing my education, questioning some of what I had previously been taught, and sometimes taking a different path than what is most common in the fitness industry.
Building a business and ministry around that has had its own challenges as well. There have been seasons of starting over, changing direction, trying things that did not work, and learning how to communicate what I do in a way that is both clear and authentic.
Through all of it, my understanding of health has become much more grounded. I no longer see wellness as a destination or a perfect version of ourselves that we are trying to reach. I see it as stewardship, learning how to care for the body, mind, and life we have been given, while allowing room for growth, limitations, healing, and grace.
As you know, we’re big fans of FaithFueled Life. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
FaithFueled Life is a whole-person wellness brand created to help women, especially women 40 and beyond, build strength, care for their health, and stay rooted in Jesus in the process.
My work sits at the intersection of faith, movement, health education, and behavior change. I teach strength training, Pilates, and yoga, provide health coaching, and create programs and experiences that help women better understand and care for their bodies. My background includes personal training, corrective exercise, nutrition, health coaching, and more than 800 hours of yoga training, along with years of working with women in different stages of life and health.
What has become most important to me is helping women move beyond the idea that wellness is simply about losing weight or looking a certain way. Those things can become such a dominant part of the health conversation that we can lose sight of strength, mobility, nourishment, rest, emotional health, nervous-system regulation, relationships, spiritual health, and the ability to actually live well in the body we have.
Faith is not something I add to a workout at the end. It shapes the way I understand the person in front of me. I believe our bodies are worthy of care because they belong to God, and that health can be approached from a place of stewardship rather than punishment, fear, or perfection.
That perspective is probably what sets my work apart. I am deeply interested in evidence-based health and movement, but I also recognize that people are more than physiology. Our experiences, beliefs, environments, relationships, stress, faith, and stories all influence how we care for ourselves. My approach makes room for that complexity.
Through FaithFueled Life, I offer health coaching, movement classes, educational programs, digital wellness resources, and community-based experiences. I also created Reclaim Your Temple, a Christ-centered wellness experience that brings together movement, shared meals, Bible study, and conversation around topics such as identity, nourishment, rest, strength, emotions, and what it means to care for ourselves as whole people.
Brand-wise, I am most proud that FaithFueled Life has grown without losing the heart behind why I started. I never wanted to build another fitness brand telling women that their bodies were problems to solve. I wanted to create a space where women could become stronger, learn about their health, ask honest questions, and deepen their relationship with Jesus without believing that their worth depended on a number on the scale.
At its core, that is what FaithFueled Life is about: helping women pursue whole-person health with Jesus at the center.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
There are several ways people can work with me or connect with FaithFueled Life.
For women looking for individualized support, I offer 1:1 health coaching focused on whole-person health. My coaching brings together nutrition, movement, behavior change, stress and recovery, and the realities of a woman’s actual life. Rather than reducing health to a number on the scale, we look at the bigger picture and explore sustainable ways to care for the body and health God has entrusted to us.
I also have the FaithFueled Life app, which gives women access to workouts, guided programs, movement practices, and wellness resources they can use wherever they are. The app includes strength training, Pilates, yoga, mobility, and programs designed for different goals and seasons of life.
My book is another way people can engage with this work. Writing has always been an important part of how I teach, and the book allows me to go deeper into the intersection of faith, health, embodiment, and the lived experiences that shape how we care for ourselves.
Beyond those individual resources, I teach classes and create faith-centered wellness experiences such as Reclaim Your Temple, where movement, health education, Scripture, community, and conversation come together.
I also collaborate with churches, nonprofits, community organizations, and wellness programs through workshops, speaking, group fitness, wellness education, retreats, special events, and program development. I am especially interested in partnerships that recognize wellness as more than exercise and create space for people to be cared for as whole people.
People can support FaithFueled Life by working with me through 1:1 coaching, using the app, reading and sharing my book, attending a class or program, sharing my work with someone who may benefit from it, or inviting me to bring wellness programming into their church, workplace, or community.
There are different entry points into the work, but the heart of it remains the same: helping women build strength and pursue whole-person health with Jesus at the center.
